Great idea on having a choice. Can you have a falcon door on one door and a slide on the other?
That might actually work for people that wanted to put a kayak on top?
But can you open just one of the falcon doors, or do both currently open / close at once due to weight, mechanism, etc.?
Audi today released an important announcement on battery suppliers for its all-electric SUV with more than 500 km (310 miles) range NEDC. We expect to see the concept version of this SUV at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show.
There will be two battery suppliers – LG Chem and Samsung SDI.
And for the very first time, lithium-ion battery cells for Audi will be produced in Europe.
Bringing cell production to Europe must mean that Audi expects high-volume, at least high enough to produce cells locally.
“Audi will develop the battery for a purely electrically powered sport utility vehicle on the basis of powerful cell modules from the South Korean suppliers LG Chem and Samsung SDI. The two Audi partners plan to invest in the cell technology in Europe and will supply the Ingolstadt-based car producer from their European plants. The new technology will give drivers of the Audi sport utility vehicle a range of more than 500 kilometers.”
Dr. Bernd Martens, Member of the Board of Management of AUDI AG for Procurement stated:
“Together with our South Korean development partners, we are bringing production of the latest battery‑cell technology to the EU and strengthening European industry with this key technology,”. The cell modules are to offer particularly high performance. “This will allow us to supply a technological solution that makes electric cars even more attractive for our customers.”
I, like many others here, await your posts eagerly. I too shorted on the way up this morning.
Just got stopped out as it started back up again, but that's ok, have a decent profit for today.
With any like it will spike up again and hit a couple of limit orders I have in.
I was just curious, I'm just wondering how many more than can make than they can currently sell?
If they chose to run the factory flat out.
Thats a good point. I think Tesla has a superior car, but many people buy the company. I drove the BMW i3 and liked it. It was being considered only because the dealership is 8 miles away.
Audi, BMW, Mercedes are all in competition with Tesla, and I can picture them doing very well.
Ken, I will correct your last sentence if you dont mind?
The giga-factory is a giga-lead weight which will pull them into bankruptcy even if they issue about 10M shares right now.
You may actually see Tesla pop up a little after the bloodletting today.
It wont last, but I love when Tesla spikes!
Panasonic makes batteries for Tesla, and Tesla assembles them into modules.
There's no way Panasonic is giving Tesla the recipe or the keys to the kitchen.
Looking back, I'd say that BMW was further along on their EV program than most had thought.
Carbon fiber Tesla would be nice, Musk seemed to like what BMW was doing.
Musk visited BMW, and liked their carbon fiber reinforced parts.
Fuelcells dot org had some comparison charts to show dimensions of FCV as compared to BEV, ICE, etc. Look like the dimensions wont be a big issue.
