It is depressing, isn't it? Any thoughts on when (and how much) GE will increase the dividend? Sounds to me like the 4th quarter should be very strong. GE still suffers from lack of confidence by investors....hopefully they can string together some strong quarters as they reduce the GE Capital footprint (should lead to higher or sustainable multiples) and regain some momentum into the 30's.

Looked like a pretty good report to me. Stay the course. Outlook looks good. Still a takeover candidate IMHO
Yeah, that's for sure, it's rare to have a sane discussion on GE here. I don't know that there is anything specific for the IPO proceeds. I would think they are using overseas cash for the Alstom deal. One thing that bothers me is that all the analysts talk about only 3% revenue growth but excluding GE Capital (which everyone knows they are downsizing to reduce risk and hopefully improve the multiple) revenues were up 7.6%. I do think they should be getting more operational leverage out of this but it is hard to sift through all the ups and downs. I know there is a huge push for cost out across the company (heavy in Health Care) and I would think they should be benefitting from low copper costs. There is always a big impact in terms of mix between equipment (lower margin) and services (higher margin). The good thing long term is the more equipment they put in, the more service income down the road. Let's see what happens in the second half...expect a bump up to high 20's or 30 by end of year unless there are big macro events which impact everybody.
After reading through GE's conference call transcript, I can see how difficult it is to follow what is really going on in this company (one I retired from as a Finance executive). I think ultimately the best thing GE could do is raise the dividend much more dramatically since this will pull in more investors looking for income (especially now) and would also be proof that after all the puts and takes and complexity, GE is generating lots of cash. Growth investors are not going to be driving GE's future for awhile....maybe after GE Capital is all sorted out, Appliances is gone, and Alstom is integrated, but not for now. Sell off more non performing pieces, stop buying back shares, and raise the dividend more quickly back toward what it was before the financial crisis.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
nc--just shows how ignorant you libs are. Who is talking about outlawing the pill? The pill prevents contraception and is not an abortion related drug. Also, the bigger issue is who should pay for it and why should companies with legitimate religious opposition to abortion related drugs be forced to provide them?
Yes, they are desperate because their agenda is viewed by most people as the hoax of the century. Not many people really care....more interested in jobs, repealing Obamacare, an end to the lies from the Administration and Harry Reid. Big win coming in the Senate in November.
If you look at my original post, I was simply saying that this company is being dressed up for sale. I have never said it was well run, but I do still think it is still a viable brand. Anyone who listened to you after the earnings announcement would have sold and missed out on a decent run up. Not over till the fat lady sings but I think you are sitting on the wrong branch.
Actually, Squeezy, I agree with you about a lot of what you say (like Obama, you sure take a long time to say it though). I listened to the conference call and was very unimpressed with the management team. I am simply saying that this company will be dressed up and sold. That is the only reason I am holding it. Look at what is happening over the past two years with GAP and A&F....still viable brands in the long run and can be turned around with the right leadership.
Squeezey is just a bloviating short. I agree the previous owners did a lousy job, especially with Rossignol. I simply believe this brand is marketable and the company will be sold after it is dressed up. I spent over 20 years doing M&A work and this is clearly going to be marketed within 12-18 months. Not sure what it will fetch but I will enjoy watching squeezy get squeezed.
Squeezey...since you find it necessary to post about 15 negative comments a minute, it is obvious that you are a desperate short and have no credibility whatsoever. I predict ZQK will sell within the next 12 months. To me, it is obvious that the current team is dressing it up for sale.
Really think this company would be an attractive target for acquisition after some further work to clean it up. Great brand would fit well into VF, for example.
