    GE Dividends

Yeah, that's for sure, it's rare to have a sane discussion on GE here. I don't know that there is anything specific for the IPO proceeds. I would think they are using overseas cash for the Alstom deal. One thing that bothers me is that all the analysts talk about only 3% revenue growth but excluding GE Capital (which everyone knows they are downsizing to reduce risk and hopefully improve the multiple) revenues were up 7.6%. I do think they should be getting more operational leverage out of this but it is hard to sift through all the ups and downs. I know there is a huge push for cost out across the company (heavy in Health Care) and I would think they should be benefitting from low copper costs. There is always a big impact in terms of mix between equipment (lower margin) and services (higher margin). The good thing long term is the more equipment they put in, the more service income down the road. Let's see what happens in the second half...expect a bump up to high 20's or 30 by end of year unless there are big macro events which impact everybody.

After reading through GE's conference call transcript, I can see how difficult it is to follow what is really going on in this company (one I retired from as a Finance executive). I think ultimately the best thing GE could do is raise the dividend much more dramatically since this will pull in more investors looking for income (especially now) and would also be proof that after all the puts and takes and complexity, GE is generating lots of cash. Growth investors are not going to be driving GE's future for awhile....maybe after GE Capital is all sorted out, Appliances is gone, and Alstom is integrated, but not for now. Sell off more non performing pieces, stop buying back shares, and raise the dividend more quickly back toward what it was before the financial crisis.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

    Biology lesson for Liberals

nc--just shows how ignorant you libs are. Who is talking about outlawing the pill? The pill prevents contraception and is not an abortion related drug. Also, the bigger issue is who should pay for it and why should companies with legitimate religious opposition to abortion related drugs be forced to provide them?
