I remember in Beaumont, Texas, after a month-long record breaking streak of everyday rain, when George W. Bush told me it was Governor Ann Richards' fault that site preparation work for a state prison there was behind schedule. I guess that sort of campaigning worked, because Bush beat Richards in the Governor's race, which was underway at the time. Years later, after he was elected President, he told a few more whoppers, as northvisitor34 points out.
Thanks Liza. "Tax free" is what I was wondering about. After selling a partnership last year I've decided to try to avoid that in the future if possible, so I have begun to think of them as lifetime investments, more or less. I don't buy an MLP or LP unless I have confidence that I will want to keep it for a long, long time.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency said on Thursday that it would reconsider the 2013 cellulosic ethanol mandate, which requires oil refiners to blend a specific amount of advanced biofuels made from grasses, trees and crop waste into gasoline.
The decision to review the mandate was made in light of concerns raised by oil industry groups.
In October, the American Petroleum Institute and American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers petitioned the EPA to reduce the target because advanced biofuels makers were failing to meet production schedules needed to meet the target.
In 2013, cellulosic producers were projected to make only about one million gallons of cellulosic, significantly less than the six million gallons mandated.
In particular, KiOR, a cellulosic ethanol producer based in Pasadena, TX, cut its production last year from an initial 5 million to only one million gallons.
Given the limited availability of advanced biofuels to blend into gasoline, oil refiners would be forced to purchase millions of dollars worth of credits on the open market .
I think that most people who believe they could do better than the SS Administration if they invested their money instead of paying SS taxes are thinking only of a retirement fund. They aren't thinking of supporting disabled people, or supporting the children of people who die or become disabled.
SS expects to pay out 709 Billion in retirement benefits this year, but it also expects to spend 145 Billion in disability insurance payments, and 59 Billion in supplementary medical insurance.
The Social Security Administration also has expenses in handling claims for various programs, like 1.1 million Medicare drug applications and applications for Medicare Hospital Insurance.
Programs like SSI and others should be considered when judging SS Administration performance.
"Jon you are so unaware you have no idea of how completely ignorant you are."
That wasn't a cheap personal attack?
Norris, your mind is not functioning well. You don't communicate effectively. If you don't believe me, get an evaluation from a psychologist.
Kid, it's ironic that you would condemn delusional thinking while exhibiting it yourself. The reason that US healthcare ranks so low among industrialized nations is that many Americans can't afford healthcare. Obamacare will help solve that. If hospitals are crowded or the demand causes longer waits for doctor appointments it is proof that Obamacare is working, to improve healthcare, not just the opposite that you would say.
As for diplomats being murdered, when that situation was going on every comment I saw from government leaders in that part of the world was citing the US produced video as a cause of the trouble. With the top people over there saying that, it was natural for US officials to say the same thing. But right-wingers just remember what they want to remember and their hatred interferes with their logic.
Sandra, I pay income taxes on my Social Security. if all of your other income, including even tax-free income like Municipal Bond interest, plus one-half of your social security totals more than $25,000, then some of the social security is going to be taxable.....so I doubt your statement.
I dropped Medicare, but my wife pays a couple of hundred dollars a month for it. The money is deducted from her Social Security checks.
Let us know if you have any more interesting stories.
After I pointed out that U.S. healthcare ranks very low among the World's industrialized nations, Norris implied I was wrong by saying:
"The world benefits or did benefit for America's vest technological superiority in health technoloy.
People from around travel here for treatment when it is serious."
As I stated, it is a fact that US healthcare ranks so low, and it's because so many Americans can't afford healthcare. Obamacare will help solve that.
I didn't say U.S. doctors are not good. I didn't say our technology is not good. I said our healthcare ranks poorly because so many people don't get the treatment they need. Without treatment they die, or continue to suffer. If so many people can't afford treatment by those good doctors and can't afford that great technology, then you can't say we have a good healthcare system. It's embarrassing that we rank so low. But Norris can't seem to accept the facts. Just look it up, Norris.
" the most advanced healthcare system this planet has ever seen"
That is an uneducated statement. It's easy to look up countries' healthcare rankings, and the U.S. is way down the list.......number 37 on the World Health Organization's rankings for 2013.
USA Today said "The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office has estimated that in 2014, due to the Affordable Care Act, the number of uninsured would decline by 14 million, with 7 million joining the exchanges, 9 million gaining Medicaid and CHIP, and 2 million fewer Americans getting coverage through the individual market."
ghondula, does it embarass you to write something that is so wrong"
You make it worse by talking about people with limited mental capacity.
Norris rants about covering the needy poor not improving medical outcome, but look at the outcome in countries that do a much better job or covering the poor. (World Health Organization healthcare ranking 2013) This is shameful!
1 France 2 Italy 3 San Marino 4 Andorra 5 Malta 6 Singapore
7 Spain 8 Oman 9 Austria 10 Japan 11 Norway 12 Portugal
13 Monaco 14 Greece 15 Iceland 16 Luxembourg 17 Netherlands
18 United Kingdom 19 Ireland 20 Switzerland 21 Belgium
22 Colombia 23 Sweden 24 Cyprus 25 Germany 26 Saudi Arabia
27 United Arab Emirates 28 Israel 29 Morocco 30 Canada
31 Finland 32 Australia 33 Chile 34 Denmark 35 Dominica
36 Costa Rica 37 USA 38 Slovenia 39 Cuba
Norris says "
Obamacare is increasing the number of Americans without access to healthcare. That is the fact."
The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office has estimated that in 2014, due to the Affordable Care Act, the number of uninsured would decline by 14 million.
If I were betting I would put my money on the CBO estimate, rather than Norris' "fact".
Bare, you are arguing with an expert. Big mistake!
I started investing in MLPs in the 80s and I discovered that professionals make many mistakes when writing articles about MLPs and other Partnerships. Liza has been handling a large portfolio of MLPs for quite a few years and she provides valuable advice when someone asks for help. If you don't understand something she wrote, ask for an explanation and she probably will elaborate.
