Well, instead of a manipulation or conspiracy theory, a better argument can be made that the fools who engage in feel good investing deserve what they get when reality inevitably becomes the order of the day. You can't have manipulation unless you first have an unsophisticated mark who think they have found easy money.
I look at good companies like Pepsi, Amgen, Cracker Barrel, Air Products and there is simply no value to be found. Lot of empty space under current share prices.

The typical Disney investor. I like what the company does, therefore it must be a buy. Forget the bubble valuation of the share price, that has nothing to do with feel good investing.
