As I have said before there are two types of players on this
Those looking for a grand slam, a retirement shot
They maybe holding 50000 shares or more
And there are the Jabbers of the world just looking to
eke out a small coin
I have come to enjoy Jabbers posts and prognostications
I suggest all the others here do the same and play along with him
Best of luck jabber
My hope and wish for you
May you one day join the ranks of investors not traders
Then you will need to change your name
No longer a " Jabberwocky "
That day you will become a real Wall Street value investor !
everyone here. Just colonscoped and found another lesion ( rectosigmoid ). Second colon cancer I found in the last three days- alone...
The CDC just published data that 35 % of the population are not screened. (These two individuals never had colonscopy.)
People must get scoped !
Those 4 words are the most magical words I have learned in my career.
(Thankfully, despite thousands upon thousands of interactions in a long career, I have never seen the inside of a court room. Have had several EBT's- no doc escapes in this day and age, but you got to know when to make it go away, when you cannot win- because of circumstances beyond your control )
What's my point:
Sometimes you just have to make things go away.
That's the case here with GILD and IDIX. GILD has seen it's star shine bright, but now you ahve a prickly upstart, IDIX, a thorn on your side. Those two companies came from the same womb.
Hey, IDIX, may now have an exact replica of you wonder drug, with many suitors out there waiting to buy them out. Plus they have another drug with excellent potential. Circumstances have arisen beyond your control.
What do you do ?
Do you launch a drug under risk of potential litigation from every shyster lawfirm when your GILD stock tanks, or do you just say, OK...let',s make a deal here. We have been twin brothers since 2004, time to merge back together and conquer this market with no competitors.
What's it worth? My market cap is 100 billion, but 10 billion makes this last nuisance, this last thorn in my side go away.
I buy them and keep any new competition from arising.
MAKE IT GO AWAY
45-50 dollars/share for IDIX, IMO.
I am only reporting what I saw on that board. Perhpas something leaked. Very hard to keep stuff private in this day and age. I don't know if there is a deal.
Once again, if you have to call people " dopes or fools " and resort to ad homeinem attacks, you got nothing.
I have a wonderful life.
( btw- myprim and I are not the same person.)
I find this entire experience most enlighting as to the intrigue and back door deals that are occuring in HCV world.
Having said this, I view GILD as a wonderful company that has doene alot of good in this world.
I wish all of you well.
I just think that GILD stole the " Pharmaceautical asset ", also known as Pharmasset ( hence the name ) from IDIX.
Now, if GILD is willing to risk 3X penalties, so be it. It seems that they want to wait IDIX out in a big " high game " stakes of poker.
Undoubtedly, this IDIX announcement today was pre planned 1 week before sofo launch in order to light a fire on GILD execs and make a decision-
2) buy them out and make them go away
3) risk it and wait these guys out.
Unfortunately for GILD, IDIX has two major suitors here- J & J ( already doing trials with them ) and MRK ( desperate to get in the HCV game )
So IDIX can look elsewhere for $$$
If you can't see this high stakes game of poker being played out in front of you, then you are blind.
Ha, nice to see you romrex.
Quite the intrigue here.
This is high stakes poker- that's for sure.
Might be over by next week
We won't shoot you
We're big boyz and gals
Whatever happens ....
You take your shots in this world and this seems like
a reasonable gamble
Seth Klarman probably knew of some licensing agreement
He's not throwing around 150 million on some frivolous
Thanks for all your hard work
If we win here at the very least a great Signet series
I think I know how to find you
All the best and good luck to you
You have placed extraordinary thought and research here
I am rooting for you more than for myself
we shall see how this place out.
Again, resorting to calling people fools is a poor line of attack.
Look, I have nothing against GILD, or any of you guys.
I just get ticked off when insiders make off like bandits- on your dime- without adequate disclosure as to what you are buying.
I am glad for your gains. I wish everyone to prosper. But a person buying this stock right now thinking it will rise with imminent approval doesn't stand a chance.
Very unfair system. And your insiders are taking advantage of them.
I've spent 18 months researching the infringement. I know all the players here.
This isn't blind belief- it is based on understanding the issues between these two companies.
Sadly, you are ignorant of all these issues.
A little knowledge is truly dangerous.
You are the proof of that axiom.
Last Friday I bought some Gilead Puts for " fun. ". ( 25 Jan 70 )
I think most of the price in Gilead has already been factored in- market cap of 115.... 200% run up over the last 2 years.
I don't think it will run to 120/share as the cheerleaders say.
But what do I know ?
I am an IDIX shareholder.
