You just included most of the East consuming region major cities. Perhaps you should look at the West or South regions to see how those major cities fared with regards to heating degree days. Texas was not all that cold except for a couple days on this report. Next week will reflect cold Texas draws, you'll find it will be larger than this week.
It'll dive if they nix it, but it is the wise thing to do. I'd prefer more debt purchases at a discount. The only thing that will move this puppy is the price of Brent currently, so I think it is prudent to hold a core position and trade some as the price of brent fluctuates.
Not likely, it'll pop and drop with brent......fundamentals, which are good considering the current drilling market, are largely ignored. The fleet status they just released was better than expected and earnings are tomorrow, I can only see mid 3's as a high unless brent moves up considerably before month end. Oil volatility makes a good trade around a core candidate currently.
On its last pop it went from 2.1 to 3.4 in short order. If they maintain the dividend and continue to generate decent amounts of operating income, I'd say this could top out with oil rising in the teens. Until then, it is one to swing trade buy on weakness under 2.8 and sell on pops over 3. They have a decent back log on the books should easily generate positive op income thru the end of the year. Short interest is enourmous and not alot of tradable float. I'll be paying attention to their earnings tomorrow, need to maintain the dividend and hopefully add to the backlog.
Lets continue to dump money into the chronically ill patient, reminds me of the bureaucratic black hole U.S. health care system we've created. Cut the foot off to get rid of the problem. Any swing traders out there, take a look at PGN, offshore driller.....makes a good hedge for short oil bets as well.
Hmm, I've been surprised of the Euro's strength as of late, glad to see it drop a bit today. Perhaps the EU southern socialists started giving away oil to the peasants to reduce the supply glut. Either that or the Swiss have been propping it up again after the currency debacle. China's good news hasn't been so good either.
$40k/day in the US section of the gulf of mexico cost to operate a jack up. Tulip will be taking one of PGN's rigs in the North Sea after DANA is done with it in the summer. Every little bit helps in getting through this low oil environment.
Good sign lately, 10 year treasury showing caution again on an up day. It has actually been a pretty good predictor with regards to TVIX moves.
Not sure if the market is resilient or completely and utterly rigged, but thank you Greece, for at least putting a momentary end to the madness. Spoke with 4 young fellows at a local restaurant yesterday, all 4 dismissed from their jobs in North Dakota. 3 had wireless laptops filing for unemployment, while the 4th was being transferred to work in PA in the Marcellus shale.....didn't feel to sorry for them as it sounded like they got while the getting was good.....just hope they saved some of what they made.....all the migrants now have the construction jobs locked up in the area.
Positive spin huh? Maybe Yellen has a solution.....lets see what Granny has to say
Their book value has no relevance. Earnings at this point are the only relevant measure. Look back at the past 4 years, they've not done so well even when the stock was 7 bucks, it was only there because things looked rosy....they never really made a whole lot of money.
Europes stimulus dollars will undoubtedly wind up lining the pockets of those we least want them to. Things will happen we least expect, so expect the unexpected until the market crashes at which time everything will go down.
They are a disgrace to the shareholders for sure. An embarassment at all the conferences they waste money going to.....they can't even get a contract on their 2 top assets.
Again, Work Comp is killing them. PMA acquisition just another stupid move by Zucaro, not quite as bad as the Land America fiasco or the PMI/MTG nightmare, but not far behind at this point. How many millions is that clown going to flush down the toilet until he's dismissed? I am counting well over half a billion at this point.
They've managed to piece together some short term work for alot of these rigs. My hats off to them. The GOM will make or break them until they get the Super A's on long term work.
