The most important fact to consider is not skin color. It's whether or not the person was punching the cop. Just how many shots to his head should a cop have to sustain before he saves his own life? I suppose you would be O K with the kid grabbing the cop's gun? Let me clue you in to a certainty of life: "If you start beating on a cop --- you will be shot!"

Age has nothing to do with it. I bought T only two and a half years ago, and have held it. I believe the stock market is all about timing. Pick a solid company at the right time and hold for the dividends. I selected T not too long after the T-mobile deal fell through and the share price tanked, because I felt that they were still solid and would rebound. That and their 6.2% yield which has progressed for me to 6.55% this year. I was either wise or lucky, but I'm very satisfied with the results so far. Some people are traders --- I'm an investor. Both approaches can work if your timing is good. I just prefer to not agonize over every day's 15 cent swings in share price, and a $7.40 cushion helps a lot.

Don't despair, T will continue with their nice dividends and the share price will climb. Good luck!

Perhaps if you had purchased @ $28.10 and held for the long term you could also be sitting today on a $7.40 per share cushion earning 6.55%! How did that happen when the share price NEVER goes up?

And if you had bought T in 2011 @ $28.10 and held it long term, you would be collecting 6.54% this year and not bellyaching about your poor investing skills!
