I can cherry pick times and events too. Watch... April 4th, 2011 - RAS had a split adjusted price of $7.29, NCT was sitting at $2.30. So, if you would have bought NCT then instead of RAS, you would be now sitting with three companies, one worth $6.36 a share, one worth $4.72 a share and a third with a split adjustment of around $1 a share and getting 27.5 cents a quarter in dividends. Also, NEWM will be paying a dividend soon enough, even though you don't think it will. If you bought RAS at that point you are still hanging onto a stock only worth $8.14 a share and getting 17 cents a share.
It's easy to cherry pick dates and times, and in the case of comparing NCT to RAS, it becomes very easy as most dates and events lead to showing that NCT has far outperformed RAS. Way outperformed RSO, and IRT and ABR.
" (whose dividend is down to a dime and whose share price is down back in under $5 territory)"
Except that they have not only spun off NRZ which is 6+ a share with a 17.5c dividend but now have also spunoff NewMedia which is currently 14.86 a share and will announce a dividend soon. You always seem to leave tidbits out, don't you.
Yeah, it looks like it will be the same. Down from the 1st of January to the 31st. Down the 1st of February to the 28th. Looks like the same type of movement.... down.
seems to be the last to give out the dividend. all you can do is email them and tell them you are sick of them sitting on your money for an extra day longer than any other broker!
It's always that way. The continued ignorance of how things work in the market, on this board is amazing!
How many people are invested in the market that don't even know the bare basics about it and what they are doing! So many people having no clue about the dividend or why that affected the share price today. It's really sad.
Make sure to take the time to look around as well. NCT/NRZ are taking a hit the last two days, but so are a lot of other REITs and financials. It looks like a general selloff to me. NRZ was hit a little harder yesterday because of the whole NSM dealio, but I think it is just creating another buying opportunity.
"Did you go to school? Have you considered getting your GED?" - says the guy who says, "Sense when...".
Why are you here? Did you buy at the top because you didn't do any of your own DD and now you are mad because you are too stupid and just read a message board for advice? I am guessing that is what it is. You will find that most people on this board have had shares for a long time and have a three bagger on their hands or more and so they don't fret the minor dips or cheer the minor jumps.
I am just saying, it depends on the time frame. You can't just make a blanket statement that longs have made money (I know it wasn't your statement Davis). I wish I was smoking something good. They wouldn't give me #$%$. =(
As Davis knows, I am not a basher. I actually was thinking about buying back in this last time it dipped below $7. In hindsight, it would have been a great move.
Longs haven't made money in a long time on RAS. RAS is still sitting at $2.52 pre-split price. It was higher than that back at the end of 2008. Now, before Davis can jump in, if you were trading in and out of it over the last several years, there is definitely money to be had as RAS is like a roller coaster ride with some rather high peaks and low valleys, you just have to time it right. This is most likely setting up as a valley at the moment. Don't say though that true longs (that sit on long shares) are making money, because they aren't.
Ethison, I would implore you to follow your own advice and not argue with Davis. He will always want to have the last word in a conversation, if it's spin and incorrect.
It was a nice quarter for them though and shows the turn around (if you can call it that anymore) continues.
To be fair, you predicted AFFO of .35 or as high as .40. It was .33, so a miss, but you did state you would be happy as long as it was at least .33.
