the overall float is only 140 million shares - of those, approx 70% are held by insiders & institutions. That leaves only around 42 million shares in retail hands and broker/MM inventories. That is why the BETA (volatility) is so high. Very easy to manipulate a stock price when the float is so low.
your first mistake is in using the word "we" - there is no we in the sense that you refer to. You are a stockholder and that's it. Executive decisions are the purview of the BOD. Your scope of equity is limited to buying or selling your own shares on the open market.
the layers of RISK were piled one on top of the other. And they were always there - in plain view - for any serious investor to see. People can be really stupid - especially gamblers.
