I cannot answer,but suspect that the annual savings on interest will be meaningful.You are right about manipulation,by which hedge funds move all the refiners,apparently making a lot of trading profit. i find that trading while using 5SMA,and changes in XOI give good signals,on all 7 refiners I follow. I find that pullbacks in TSO are very profitable buys.
I suspect this buyback may cause HFC to be stingier with divvies. Hope I am wrong.

Xoi is weak,and all the refiners follow it,blow-by-blow. Also all the MMs keep the refiners prices very volatile.
The trick is to have some of all of them and sell the hot ones every day.They just rotate around every day.Play the 5 day SMA...good signals,be nimble.

iT IS DANGEROUS to fall in love with ANY stock,regardless of the hooplah or seeming statistics of future earnings.
Please look at a 3-yr. chart.....see a head-and-shoulders, with shoulders at 40. Then we retested the 40 a few times,and fell back to the neckline between rallies,and now recently have crashed below the neckline into the low twenties.Historically we are oversold and due for a good rally,but there is no guarantee in life.
Trading is posssible only if you are able to daytrade all day,and even that is tough,as prices turn on a dime.
The idiot bashers will now attack me with "shorty" accusations, or bashing. Welcome...so I can put you on ignore again.
Know history and try to learn from it. We have the FED fighting us tooth and nail, and the Plunge Protection Team supporting the market,and are living in a whole new world where we have never been before.
