TSLA an "all in" poker hand

want2popov, do you even understand what the meaning of future is? You need to sit down and think of the implications of what is going on here. The electric motor that is in the Tesla is advanced, period. It puts out 416 hp and 442 ft lbs of torque at 0 rpm and weighs 87 lbs. It is a 3 phase AC induction motor so there is an inverter. You notice no one else has a motor like that or close to the same specs? Think about the implications. It is ideal for transportation. Tremendous torque which why locomotives use electricity to drive their wheels. Maximum torque at 0 rpm. Locomotives are hybrids by the way. That diesel engine is generating electricity. So now the issue is batteries which Tesla has done a fine job at solving and can only get better. Notice again that no one else has the range. The supercharger uses direct current to charge the car quickly. Again ahead of everyone else. The problem with your "short" analysis is that you have no foresight into the future. You cling to the past with numbers but in reality if you were investing 40 years ago in Intel, you would have been shorting them too. The public utility and energy market is a $trillion industry and any dent would be a tremendous amount of income. So as he is building out the infrastructure for the superchargers and battery factory there may be a hiccup but the plan marches on. Musk is making the best use of everything possible including using the car batteries for home use once they drop below 80% recharge capacity. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the execution of what he is doing. The shorts are wrong on this and have been since the beginning. If you're a long, just stick it out to Model 3. I'm buying one then since I can't justify any car for 70-100k. But I want one at the right price.

TSLA shorts are a bunch of blithering idiots. Wow, what a profound statement. Your so called "tossing it into a furnace" has made longs hundreds of thousands of dollars. Can you say the same for shorting the stock. I doubt it. You make a few bucks here and there but in the long run it isn't worth the stress.

Eventually they need to move off of coal too! Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out. Every day they have 8-12 mile long coal trains going by our house. It is beyond belief that we are burning that much coal. The hole in the ground in Gillette Wyoming must be huge. Did you ever wonder why all the predator fish like tuna, shark, marlin and others have mercury in them? Coal. Coal has mercury in the seams. They mine it, burn it and up it goes into the atmosphere and comes back with rain, ending up in the oceans and lakes. We have a huge problem and if we don't solve it, it will solve us. Tesla is just a step but to imply that we stop because coal is creating electricity isn't feasible at this time. By the way, renewable energy sources are huge right now. I traveled I70 and there are some huge wind farms built. I'm not talking 100's, I'm talking 1000's of windmills. Kansas and Colorado have miles and miles of wind farms. Don't underestimate the power of man to do something positive if you take the greed out of the energy companies. If Tesla prices their batteries right for the house I'm getting it and putting panels up. Panels are ~$5000 for a pallet of 20. All I need is a storage battery, inverter and permit and I'm off the grid.

So what are you implying? Just give up and don't try to make the world a better place. Keep starting wars for energy? What? To continue down the same path knowing very well it is going to destroy the planet as we know it is dumb! Where do you think all the cars exhaust and emissions go? Everything ends up in the ocean. I remember years ago when I was in San Diego that if it rained stay out of the water for a couple days because all the fricken chemicals, oils and other nasty stuff ends up in the ocean and thus on your skin as it washes off the streets. Not only that but small minded people don't realize that the composition of the atmosphere is changing as all the burning requires the very things we need to live, oxygen. No oxygen, no life. The atmosphere really is not that thick in the overall picture. Try hiking a 14000 ft peak in Colorado and you'll see. Even at 10,000 feet is is tough to breath. So to continue to wage wars for energy because the oil companies want status quo just so they can keep making money at the detriment to the planet is suicidal.

That's not what I read. They've claimed it is going to be in the same price range as the Model S. I've NEVER heard the 45k price. And considering that it is all wheel drive with two motors and I hope more space, I don't see it being what you stated at all.

You forgot the biggest one. Efficiency of energy. Fuel should be used for better purposes since 75% or more is just going into the atmosphere as heat.

Dude, you need to do better than this. You obviously have not been following Tesla very long and don't know what they plan to do with the batteries. Wake up, do you honestly think they haven't thought of all of this. The batteries are going to be going into the house batteries since they don't need to be capable of charging to 100%, 80% will do. Quit shorting the stock because all the reasons for shorting are just plain dumb!

Hey ballcoach_30, why aren't you whining and complaining about the oil subsidies and multi-billion dollar taxbreaks for the oil companies every year. It is easy enough to search and find. Surely it wouldn't be because you're shorting the stock and trying to come up with all kinds of bogus analysis just like the article's writer.

Give it up ballcoach. You need to quit shorting this stock before you're broke! The Model X will be out soon and I predict it will be more of a success than the S. I've been in since it was 28 and bailed out at 150 because of these bad analysis. If you're long don't believe these guys because over the long run they have been proven to be wrong! And it cost me a lot of shares. Think of the future and hold. Electric motors are ideal for transportation, they're light, offer tremendous horsepower and maximum torque at 0rpm. No transmission, emission control equipment and no liquid fuel. A lot safer than an regular car. Once a longer lived and cheaper battery comes out, this stock will keep rocking. Shorts are the forever pessimists in our society and need to make money by bad mouthing everything. If Intel came on the market today they'd be badmouthing them too. (They almost went under in the early 1980's, IBM bought 25% of them)
