  • Sprint could cut so much cost out of the model...because they AREN'T PAYING ATTENTION...Claure commented recently that there was another 1.5 Billion coming and the 1.5 billion for this year was ahead of really have to wonder about these analysts...the SEC should look into the whole activity, particularly as it relates to new-bog type media and social media posting online anonymously, there is real potential for conflicts of interest and abuse.....

hard to say on the timing, remember there was 1.5 billion out of the model this year and Claure said they were ahead of schedule.....also the lease program for handsets, are they implementing that with an aggregate first batch of leased phones for the quarter...or do they start it incrementally....if in the aggregate that's 500 million that is saved for the quarter (more if leased phones are ramping up)

for instance, recent Claue tweet response:

    Ina Fried ‏@inafried · 3h3 hours ago
Sprint's latest cost cuts could complicate effort to regain customers, improve network

MarceloClaure ‏@marceloclaure · 2h2 hours ago  Overland Park, KS
@inafried absolutely not. I have been vey clear that we will cut as much cost as we did this year and continue to grow and build our network

... analysts are the time they are all talking about how great Sprint will be time to sell......even Claure commented recently that the analysts needed to "do their homework better"....heck, I can even see that the analysts and media are so full of nonsense just listening to cc's and reading filings, ...can see that they aren't even paying attention to the facts of what's going on.....just clueless...I can only imagine Claure must shake his head so much it finally spins around 720 degrees in disbelief at how OFF these guys are....

  • greekmonster101 greekmonster101 Oct 1, 2015 10:47 PM Flag

let's hear the details of the leasing would not surprise to see the whole of the 5 Billion per year next gen build cost go OBS with something creative in that equipment leasing plan....ALL sprint/SB really need to do is keep modest customer increases while cutting costs and importantly.... paying off the debt...a debt/ebitda ratio 1:1 sprint looks a lot different...and as I said thy could institute a dividend starting with only the 15% stub.......that's the end of the shorts and suddenly Son's (and us retail longs) equity becomes VERY valuable currency.....

...2.5 billion equates to 625 million per quarter.....I suspect that we are going to see Sprint/Softbank be super aggressive with these leasing companies as is possible for instance that the whole of the 5 Billion per year next gen build goes OBS, which would be 1.25 billion per quarter well as the handset leasing (which in the last earnings release is 544 million per quarter)....

....tally this up....625 million plus 544 million plus 1.25 is about 2.4 billion per quarter....assuming they use that savings to start reducing debt they can know down the debt by as much as 10 billion per year.....Son said the target was debt/ebitda ratio of 1:1.....and remember Sprint debt service is costing Sprint about 500 million per the debt paid down further improves the cash flow....

..anyway, way, check my numbers, but, that's the way it seems to shape up...remember and Claure recently made this point...Sprint has 32 BILLION per year in there is power in that if Sprint is efficient....

  • greekmonster101 by greekmonster101 Oct 1, 2015 10:28 PM Flag

a steep increase from what Clarue recently said that it would be another 1.5 Billion in 2016......he had also commented that the 1.5 targeted for 2015 was well ahead of schedule.....he just tweeted to push back on some media that this would complicate efforts to regain customers and improve their networks...these glorified blog writers and analysts are so clueless....they don't even listen to what has been said.....or even know what is going on.....the whole analyst and new blog-media social media landscape should be looked into by the SEC....

a certain amount of shorting is in place as arbitrage plays.....good luck with that on Sprint as the debt is paid down ...and say at 25 cents on a dividend (cost is a mere 150 million).....yet at $4 equity that's 25% annualized to cover the I said jugs, you really don't know what's going on

one thing people seem to not really "get" is that Sprint has 32 billion a year in revenue.....with just the few structural tweaks SB/Sprint has discussed, the cost cuts already in progress, the new costs cuts claure discussed for 2016, the lower costs of next gen, the lower opex of next gen, the bettering network allowing for modest price increases such as unlimited to $70 versus $60 (and $70 is still lowest in industry)....that Sprint will be able to rapidly pay down debt...which then affords additional's a whole new ballgame at that point folks

the other reason Sprint/SB might want to institute a dividend for just the public float (stub), is that the shorts have to pay the dividend on the short shares.......that would tend to stop the bear attacks or gaming of the issue by shorts ...

mw, that was probably part of the problem...I think you pegged it when you said he was referred to as... creepy....that makes total sense.....think about it...think of all the odd posts, misinformation...illogic...and just mind numbingly useless endless dross.... then extrapolate that over to this one question....for THAT guy who wrote THOSE monumentally difficult would it be for him to keep a job should he heaven forbid have to interact with real people?

the old TR was let go/fired...this is not the same person using the account....his boss men just substituted in someone else since the old TR was too flighty and had been mailing it in for a long term...lot of factual errors and gaffs like claiming to be a "chaser" hired by masa son...and in general becoming a real liability....look, I sure it's not hard to find some schmuck to post nonsense on line for a fraction of a penny per word....

the public float (stub) works against Sprint and SB in a way at present ...since what is now about 100 million shares (or less) that are actively traded of a less than 700 million stub.....determine the price of 4 billion shares...that's 40 to 1 leverage.......that can work the other way ...a fact that clearly would not be lost on SB...all SB has to do is remove costs from the Sprint model via OBS actions (such as the leasing companies, brightstar), use the cash flow to quickly reduce debt, then start paying a dividend to stub holders only, that will not cost much since it will be 15% of the shares, but will create a serious demand for the stub shares.....price goes up, and translates to the overall market cap valuation.....THEN do a JV at a much higher valuation

  • greekmonster101 greekmonster101 Sep 30, 2015 8:49 PM Flag

it wasn't in fact in that instance there was a lot of animosity between Vodafone and VZ over that very point...played out in the media big just aren't paying attention

  • greekmonster101 greekmonster101 Sep 30, 2015 8:03 PM Flag

...the benefit of course for SB is they can use the stub to their's 40 to 1 leverage.....with say 100 million actively traded shares controlling 4 billion share in the overall float........ issue s strong dividend at low cost to the stub holders and the stub becomes THE issue to own......drives up the price for the whole float...THEN do a JV.....
