i wonder when we will get far into the green instead of the red. At least we are not still falling
i live about 4 miles from this old coal burner. My first job was on cane run road. I wonder who supplies the NG to this new plant, CHK or SWN?
glad to get some gains back today. I took some off of the table today. I think with the Iran deal coming up, Greek, and this months early are not going to be good for CHK, but long term this stock is a triple.
US natural gas producers purposely keeping the price down to get market share by overproducing from the coal companies and it is working perfectly Two coal companies bankruptcies declared this week alone.
OPEC trying to do something similar but their plan is not working.
We need a couple of Natural Gas producers to go under or consolation before we start heading back up. I can think of one of hand but their are probably several more. EXXI
Two good articles this week. Either one should have given Natural Gas producers a 10 percent bounce.
1) natural gas overtaking coal for electrical production
2) Two Coal Companies declaring bankruptcy (Patriot Coal and Alpha Resources)
Google "natural gas overtaking coal". You will pull up articles from 2 to 3 years ago that this will happened withing the next 10 to 20 years. Natural gas usage was announced this week that usage has overtaken coal production. Coal is in free-fall and the Natural Gas companies are the beneficiaries of this.
Sure natural gas prices are pretty low right now, but we are gaining so much market share from coal. Natural gas companies are mostly at 52 week low right now, especially after Fridays hit.
What is it going to take to start moving up again?
this will have not much effect on supply in the short term, but the publicity of the new era should get the natural gas stocks moving higher.
i think bankrupted alpha resources is in the same geographical region as swn. No bank will give this coal company money for a re-org. The only leverage alpha resources has is to let current employees work for a couple more years before infa-structure is in place to where natural gas can completely take over.
i wonder if they are in oversupply mode to quicken the demise of the coal companies and the weaker natural gas companies. Very interesting to see the results of when a lot of the coal companies report next week, even more than what when swn reports next week.
The are already 15 percent below price level when the first bust earier this year, when oil was 5 dollars less a barrel what it is now.
No, swn has strong balance sheet compared to its competitors. The stock performance lately has been pathetic
