  • The conference call did nothing to change the fact that Solazyme has great technology + great products +great patents.

    Solazyme also has awesome partners.

We all just wish they could scale faster (Wolfson included).

So what is changing is the sentiment for one of Solazyme's awesome partners to come in and take over the whole company for whatever Wolfson, the board and investors would agree to (a couple of billion perhaps?).

Sure, 12 months ago this wouldn't have been entertained, but the game has changed, and if the tech + patents + products are as good as the markets say, then I think Wolfson would consider giving away the house for a couple of billion at this point. Banking a little coin now to see his baby scale may prove to be a good option.

Think the board hasn't contemplated what Dow Chemical, AkzoNobel or Eni could do with their capabilities and resources to move the needle on expansion? Think again.,

The big boys know how to scale. Solazyme needs this now.

Solazyme, Inc., a renewable oil and bioproducts company, won the 2014 Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award for its platform technology to produce sustainable oils and products from microalgae for commercial use. Solazyme’s win represents the first time the technology, which harnesses the power of microalgae to produce high performing, sustainable, healthy and environmentally-friendly products, has been recognized by this award, according to the company.

The Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award promotes the environmental and economic benefits of developing and using novel green chemistry. The annual award recognizes technologies that incorporate the principles of green chemistry into chemical design, manufacture and use. Since its inception in 1996, the EPA in partnership with the American Chemical Society Green Chemistry Institute has received thousands of nominations from leading companies, entrepreneurs and academic researchers pioneering new discoveries.

“Green chemistry technologies have real world results – reducing waste and greenhouse gas emissions while saving water and other scarce resources,” says Jared Blumenfeld, EPA’s regional administrator for the Pacific SW.

That moment when your Creamer hits your coffee… You know what I’m talking about. The beautiful swirl, the first sip, the delicious day ahead. Honor your morning with something real, made from the cream of whole nuts.

Ingredients: Almondmilk (Water, Almonds), Pure Cane Sugar, Natural Flavors, Whole Algal Flour (with mixed Tocopherols), Calcium Carbonate, Sunflower Lecithin, Potassium Citrate, Sea Salt, Gellan Gum, Carrageenan.

Not saying this is still a play, but this is one of many possibilities. It's likely we will get some sort of capacity news announced on the CC. Could be expansion at one or both plants. Could be something new like the deal I laid out.

What I am saying is something big may be announced on November 5th. Solazyme likes to use CCs to announce big news. Go back to the announcements surrounding the secondary at the beginning of the year. What was that all about according to Solazyme Management? Expansion. It's coming.

    Nice action today.

Those who still have powder left should be buying each and every pull back from now on. Looks like the bottom of $5.54 was marked. $8+ by CC would be nice. A good call brings us closer to double digits.

    In a word: Accumulate.
