Throwing money away. If you are going to short wait till close to the end of the day. When they are in buy mode they ramp it up the last hour. Patience.
Not really. People buying today are momo guys who see 530 broken to the upside. They are expecting a quick trip up to 560. Are they right? We'll see.
I agree. I didn't want to hold over the weekend. If they drive this back down to 16 then i may reenter.
They will buy all day as long as the market doesn't sell off. Bots are buying and bots have no emotion. They see buyers and they will continue to buy. This is also a hard to borrow and the higher this goes the more shorts will be compelled to cover. It's not a matter of where this should be priced, it's a matter of what is going on right now, and the expectancy play is to hold this through day's end.
A big part of the reason it was down all day was because of rumors that Icahn was selling. That news is out now. I think this slides further but it won't crater. Bubble stocks crater when the company thesis goes up in flames. The long story is still intact. Institutions won't exit this stock yet and will probably provide some support. I could see NFLX trading down to the moving averages and then bouncing.
And alot of longs have owned this stock at much lower prices. And the overall market is at all-time highs. What margin calls? And i had no position in this going into earnings so no bias.
The stock did close near the lows on announcement day. Funds that don't want the split will usually sell out quickly to get it off the books. Funds that buy in....it takes longer as the news needs to get digested. I added at 51.12 on announcement day.
No matter. They still blew numbers away. Estimates for China are around 2 million. So back that out and it still comes out to 7 Million. That's still well over the 5 million they did last year. And remember, the 4S was released in October so all those on contract still haven't come off.
I think they always intended to drop the price in the future. They released it with a high price point so it maintained the brand image as a top notch phone. They know what they are doing.
I agree with this. You rather have high demand with supply issues than poor demand. Obviously. Part of this is Apple's doing because they want the 5S to seem exclusive and wanted. They probably could have sold more, especially the gold, and still gotten the same effect. Regardless, sets up well for the holiday season.
Really hard to say. Anybody making blanket statements is blowing smoke. 1. We know China is included this year so yes that's a positive. 2. We know Japan now has Japan's biggest carrier, so yes that's a positive. 3. We know 5S is sold out. Sounds good. 4. We know preorder was only for the 5C and it was lukewarm. Negative. 5. We know the 5S has supply issues because of finger sensor. Negative.
How will all this add up? Who knows? Could be great could be awful but in reality probably somewhere in between.
