Commander, congrats on SMSI ! Do you trade ECA at all? It has had a nice run. Do you still think you'll get a chance to buy more under $18?
cgm's question still stands. Why did Cooperman buy 60,000 shrs to the tune of $1.4 million over the last few days? That's not lowering his stake, or am I missing something?
Horrifying thought. My question is this: hold through earning (perhaps some retail buyers don't realize there will be none) hoping for an announcement of some sort? Or sell some on the run up hoping to buy the shares back cheaper?
Amazon sells things. Everything, in fact. Tesla does too. Netflix provides a service. Ifon sells things. Twitter, Yelp and Linkedin are free. I don't understand the business model beyond renting eyeballs. Does that justify the valuations?
The Commander commands $6 gas and behold (and sooner not later). He says it may spike to $8 later this year and one wonders if it might get there this qtr. Commander, will we see a pullback come spring, or will there be no "shoulder?"
Price of gas about US $0.40/lt or around $1.50 / US gallon in Bagdad. If you include US CAPEX in terms of treasure and blood, it's about $100,000 / gallon.
Earlier this year, considering the drought here in CA, I jokingly wrote that I should short Toro (TTC) thinking no one would need a new lawn mower. That might be a bad idea as it turns out because Toro makes irrigation equipment too and in a recent 'LA Times' article about the World Ag Expo in CA's Central Valley the headline read: 'Irrigation equipment suppliers see demand soar amid drought.' Most suppliers are small privately held outfits, but there are one or two big players with some exposure. TTC is up more than 50% in last year. Food for thought...
Here in so cal I've been in shirtsleeves almost every afternoon since Xmas, but today I had to turn on the air conditioner at the office, and I'm on the coast! Inland they must really be running AC. I don't know if there are any short-term implications for NG, but there is no snow in the Sierra so no hydro this summer so all electricity will be nuclear or gas-generated. Also it will be against the law to water a lawn. Or take a solo shower.
Sold the rest of my UGAZ at $34 and thought I was genius. Seems like all the shortterm upside has got to be priced in around here, or no?
