Won't the companies tell you how he monies should be allocated and how to figure your "new" basis, at or right before the close of the deal?
That, of course, is what I was hoping. It's doubtful I'd "swap" GE for Sync. If you have a link to what you read, I'd like to read it myself, osfdbo2. Thank you.
Do I understand today's article I just read on MF that the shareholders will not be receiving any of this stock, but would on the second spin-off, for the 85% balance of the stock?
That would be fine, Matt. I'm not in that much of a hurry. 12 months will be fine. Now, I'm holding you to this, you know. :)
Frankly, I'd like to see it above 100 for a while. Maybe they'd again decide to split. Yes, I do like splits...mine always seem to redouble again in a reasonable amount of time.
Clay, Where did you read that the s/h's would receive shares in the spin-off. They don't have to, you know. I haven't yet read that.
I have no idea if there will or will not. Based on past history, yes, there should. But...who knows. Unlike others on this board, I have found every split (not "reverse split, of course) of every company has been beneficial to my portfolio. JBHT is just one example. BUT...I'm a long-term holder and I've been in the market for over 40 years. People who haven't the longevity in the market or who are traders probably don't do as well with splits.
