Until the Chinese steal our intellectual property and make a 3D printer than can manufacture a car for $99.
I saw a show on Discovery channel about self replicating robots. If you put a powerful enough computer on the 3D printer, it could reproduce.
I agree. I ask just about everyone I see about it, and 7 out of 10 have never even heard the term. we ae just getting started.
Instead of giving away the secret, use it to your advantage. If you have a brokerage account with options privileges, you can sell put options yourself. Find a good company and sell puts against it over and over again. Put stupid people's money into your pocket (pun intended).
Forget about the machines. The real money is in the reagent kits, which are of course patent protected.
ONP is by no means comparable to PACB. In Big Pharma we are really ramping up out use of PacBio sequencing. 700K is peanuts to us. I spend 5 million in one year about a decade ago buying ABI machines, lol!
Not true. i work in Big Pharma and we are starting to use it big time. It does what it claims to do and is the best technology for a specific set of applications. We are outsourcing right now, but getting ready to pull the trigger.
I work in this field. Oxford nanopore is universally viewed as "vapor ware." Until that changes, they are dead money.
I think this is a Bakken shale story. Companies like Oasis just posted blowout earnings and growth, despite lower oil prices.
I guess they missed the interview of the GE CEO when he said that 3D printing will revolutionize the way they do manufacturing.
What my lab uses it for is to deconvolute transgenic insertion site architecture and sequence over regions that are highly repetitive, which Illumina simply cannot do.
You two need to go back to investing 101, or hire someone to help you. You have no idea what you are doing and need help.
They do have a new product. They just release the new iteration of their polymerase which leads to mean read lengths of 8,500 base pairs, with reads as long as 30,000 base pairs. This is a big deal to those of us that use their platform. They also signed a deal with Roche, which you might have heard about.
