Do tell us where the summer temperatures were warmer. In other words, prove it.

  • and we have more ice than ever.

Scientists say the extent of Antarctic sea ice cover is at its highest level since records began. Satellite imagery reveals an area of about 20 million square kilometres covered by sea ice around the Antarctic continent. Jan Lieser from the Antarctic Climate and Ecosystems Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) said the discovery was made two days ago. "This is an area covered by sea ice which we've never seen from space before," he said.

New York City councilman and State Assembly shoo-in Charles Barron has reiterated his admiration of dictators and said he hopes to host one of them — Zimbabwe’s Robert Mugabe — in the states … again.

“I would love for him to come to Albany. I would love for him to come anywhere in the United States, really,” Barron said in a recent interview with the New York Observer. “I think he’s a shining example of an African leader on the African continent.”

Barron famously hosted Mugabe as city councilman in 2002.

Mugabe took control of Zimbabwe in 1983 and instituted martial law in 1987. He rose to power after starting an ethnic cleansing in which tens of thousands of people were murdered, the Observer reports. Barron praised him because he seized land from white landowners and redistributed it to black Africans.

“No one’s perfect,” Barron told the Observer. “I see him as a freedom fighter.”

Barron has expressed support for dictators around the world, including Libyan dictator Muammar el-Quaddafi and Cuba’s former president Fidel Castro.

He told the Observer, “All my heroes were America’s enemies.”

Barron is expected to beat his Republican opponent for a New York Assembly seat handily. The Observer reports that he is running to replace his wife in the Assembly, who in turn is replacing him as city councilman.

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- The federal government refuses to say whether prosecutors in Yuma, Arizona, have scaled back a years-old program that guarantees jail time for most immigrants caught crossing the border illegally and which law enforcement officials say is crucial to public safety.

Reports that federal prosecutors have stopped some prosecutions under Operation Streamline surfaced nearly two weeks ago when Arizona Sens. John McCain and Jeff Flake wrote a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder seeking information on the status of the zero-tolerance program that circumvents the civil immigration system and lumps together months' worth of criminal proceedings into one day for immigrants caught crossing the border illegally.

  • In Burlington, VT, the temperature reached the freezing mark for the earliest time in the season since 1964! That data is according to the National Weather Service in Burlington.

Low temperatures dropped into the 20s and 30s across the area and broke/tied records in some cases. A record low was established in Massena, NY for Thursday and Friday. A record low was tied for Friday in Burlington and St. Johnsbury. These temperatures were 10-20 degrees below average for this time of the year!

It means the end of the growing season for 2014 for many. This is particularly early to see this kind of cold weather.

Health Reform: It seems the administration had been exaggerating the number of people enrolled in obamaCare to the tune of about 700,000. We're shocked! Shocked!

At a hearing Thursday, Marilyn Tavenner, head of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, finally confessed that 7.3 million were enrolled in obamaCare plans as of mid-August.

In other words, the administration had been inflating the "enrollment" number nearly 10% by counting anyone who had completed the application process, not those who paid their premiums.

Now, they say it's no big deal, because everyone expected some attrition. But even this new, lower number is likely to be inflated.

Democrats are sending warning signals on a previously sleepy southern California House race — a tangible sign of an increasingly tough midterm for the party.

Freshman Rep. Julia Brownley is one of three House Democrats receiving extra and early help from the national party. A year ago, her district was barely on the party’s radar of competitive races, after obama carried it by 10 points last cycle.

“This is a tight race and a difficult seat, and we are committed to hanging onto it,” said Matt Thornton, a spokesman for House Majority PAC, a Democratic super PAC aiding Brownley’s re-election.

  • Immigration Agent Union: Obama Admin ‘Widened the Loopholes’ for ISIS to Enter U.S.
    By Andrew Johnson
    September 18, 2014 1:48 PM

The obama administration has “widened the loopholes” that Islamic State and other extremist fighters could use to enter the United States, a leading union of immigration officials says.

In a statement obtained by National Review Online, the U.S. National Citizenship and Immigration Services Council, a union representing 12,000 federal immigration agents, sounded the alarm that not only could jihadists “slip across our porous southern border,” but that fighters could also “exploit our loose and lax visa policies to gain entry to the United States.”

  • Sure, Barry, . . . but . . .the number of “jobs” is meaningless. Replace a full-time job with benefits with three 10 hour a week part time jobs and the number of “jobs” has tripled. The Progressive Era (Bush/Clinton/Bush/Obama) has seen the real individual income of paycheck-earning Americans plummet. The unholy alliance of Communists and Corporatists is making this happen and they also define the economic indicators to make it all appear to just be tinfoil hat stuff.

Here comes the obamacare death panels

Thank God for obamacare. No one will get sick and death will be a thing of the past.

  • Some recovery, huh?

  • New York Times

The country’s system for handling end-of-life care is largely broken and should be overhauled at almost every level, a national panel concluded in a report released on Wednesday.

The 21-member nonpartisan committee, appointed by the Institute of Medicine, the independent research arm of the National Academy of Sciences, called for sweeping change.

“The bottom line is the health care system is poorly designed to meet the needs of patients near the end of life,” said David M. Walker, a Republican and a former United States comptroller general, who was a chairman of the panel. “The current system is geared towards doing more, more, more, and that system by definition is not necessarily consistent with what patients want, and is also more costly.”

  • Some how, some way, they are hovering over the terrain, waiting for ISIS to surrender. obama's world is a strange place, ya know.
