yeah - I was going to trade the common a bit and the choo choo left the station with out me - I hope there is a 80-90 cent price again - if not I will just ride my pref mini train
when the correction happens people will start selling - guess what they will sell first? the questionable (speculative) companies - does it get more questionable than ANGI?
I hope you can make money with the shares I sold - my hope was the pre pack and I felt I should have sold when Valstone pulled out - I think management has done everything they can to pull off a deal - the question now is can they survive without a deal and are the regulators going to just stomp them - I didnt think that they would seize those banks so I am out
congrats to the longs - time to DANCE DANCE DANCE!
a Buffet quote from his letter to shareholders in 2000
The line separating investment and speculation, which is never bright and clear, becomes blurred still further when most market participants have recently enjoyed triumphs. Nothing sedates rationality like large doses of effortless money. After a heady experience of that kind, normally sensible people drift into behavior akin to that of Cinderella at the ball. They know that overstaying the festivities — that is, continuing to speculate in companies that have gigantic valuations relative to the cash they are likely to generate in the future — will eventually bring on pumpkins and mice. But they nevertheless hate to miss a single minute of what is one helluva party. Therefore, the giddy participants all plan to leave just seconds before midnight. There's a problem, though: They are dancing in a room in which the clocks have no hands.
OK never mind - I re-read the actual article and it is just the association bank services that is being sold - not the branches - my bad
there are 20 locations in Northern California - are they buying them all or do we know just yet?
good find WTH - looks to me like they are doing exactly like they said they would
I am prepared to lose money with my short position - someone much bigger and much badder than me has a vested interest in keeping this dog pumped up - time is on our side but with put options there is a time dead line on being right - that is one of the reasons I rarely buy puts
I got one question - where is Big Dumper and where are my 20 cent buys ;)
preach on panic! but dont preach it up too much - lets keep the pps low for a bit shall we?
I am no Rhodes Scholar but I know when pork chops go on sale for 49 cents a pound to load the freezer
sorry about the flush in the pref today- but I am out
best of luck to you guys - there is still a slim chance but I am taking my losses like a man and moving on
not specific to Cree but be careful on the color temperature of any LED bulbs you purchase - make sure you are not getting daylight or anything much over 3000k - otherwise you will be replacing nice warm white bulbs with a very blue cool white - just FYI
when you get that C7 corvette drive over to St Louis and I will buy you a steak dinner - I hope you wont mind drinking water with your meal cause aint no way I am paying 3.50 for a soda!
oh and the problem with don-t-panics picks are too many good ones and not enough cash.
now if they only would give my father in law a free checking account like I have - the lady says they dont offer that anymore (oh and its best to read my posts in a Forest Gump voice - Run Forest Run!)
some days my portfolio is like watching paint dry - then at the end of the day I go to my local bank and make my companies deposit at First Bank just like I have for years - nice to see you folks and keep up the good work - oh and the vice president takes my calls too!
this is going to take some patience but they are the last of the cheap banks with decent capitalization - I am not expert but like all other banks they changed the way they do things and in a few years I wouldn't be shocked to see it at $3-$5 (not considering any split)
bobwins - if you are short or just frustrated with DRL then I can understand - but you must not follow bank deals very often - banks with the size and operations of Doral Bank just dont close up on a whim - bank deals are being pulled off on worse banks then DRL - there is value there even if its not as much as you think it should be - google this
Brouster leads $31 million recapitalization of Reliance Bancshares
I havent been in RSO for a while - I check back in here now and again hoping to find it under $6
best of luck mysonchino - look into FBS-PA - its my largest holding where RSO once was - I do miss the reg divi payments from RSO but the divies are cumulative on FBS-PA
the pref issues are holding up
anyone want to dump some DORLN?
I wish :(
