even at the bottom of 2000 coal stocks were around 1/2 book.
that was the previous cycle low for most "old economy" stocks.
ACI bottomed and went up 5x in 18 months, CNX was up about 3x
yep, that's what ANR CEO said in the CC. the coal plants had to run full blast
I get the same vibrations as you Lionel
the Gordo/Vento/ Mcdonald team really are competent and methodical about growth , risk management, and shareholder value
1.everyone pushing them into Wifi enabled MJ, they DIDN"T waste R/D money on this.
2. continued share buybacks to bring shares down to 18.0M
3. Radio shack disaster has been mitigated thru opening up new value retailer doors
4. new moblie APP is introduced as a "word-of-mouth" Fremium model with NO marketing spend.
5. Tax loss harvesting seems wise, and looking to use Israel as tax haven
they have addressed this issue with new prepaid card, and rolling out new ad campaign.
the churn will come down, new potential paid subscribers will come from mobile APP
yes, he sounded to smart and smug. but being optimistic on the turnaround effort is more fruitful than trying to pick tops in a stock
The Athena Group was founded in 1968 and currently operates two factories based in France and one factory in Portugal. It is a leading brand and one of the largest producer of canned chestnuts and bean sprouts products in France. The France operation owns two highly automated production lines which are considered Europe-leading in technology and capacity. The Portuguese factory was established in 2013 and is located near Portugal’s main chestnut producing region, which is essential to sufficient supply of raw materials given the falling chestnut output in Europe in recent years.
5 years with no EPS growth, it's about time to do something totally out of the box.
I feel this move will get ALN noticed. Bravo Mr. Si.
since the 8k stated Athena had been in biz over 40 yr's in France selling chinese groceries, and other dry goods. then having controlling stake in Athena seems like a great fit for ALN. Sitting on over 36M in cash, ALN might as well take advantage of the south european debt crisis/depression to make acquisitions.
It seems like Mr. Shi is finally doing something substantive to grow the business. anyone?
maybe right to hold off adding til Q2. give them credit for great bal sht. this is now a buyout candidate for LOGI for sure.
from press release:
Mr. Si Chen, Chairman and CEO of American Lorain, commented: "The product sales in Family-Mart store chain marks a significant move of our market penetration in Japan. Japan has the strictest food quality standards around the world and having our products selling in a leading Japanese store chain is a strong evidence for our ability to provide quality and delicious food products. I look forward to a positive feedback of the test sale."
how did you find out about Family Mart sales for ALN?
