    Anandtech: Kaveri is a joke!

I wouldn't call Kaveri a "joke" as much as a poorly executed product. The low end Kaveri which (oddly) hasn't shipped yet, isn't so bad compared to the low end Trinity and Richlands it replaces. It offers a big performance bump over other low end APUs, so looking only at AD offerings, it is a valid replacement.

The high end Kaveri, though, looks to be a buggy joke. Slower than the top end Richland (which didn't sell well) which it replaces, and buggy if you believe Anandtech.

AMD's biggest problem, though, is that none of these chips compete successfully with the Intel parts theu target. Core i3 eats the low end Kaveris alive and even beats the top end Kaveri in many benchmarks. The Core i5 owns the top end Kaveri. The Intel chips are also more than twice as efficient, meaning AMD's APUs are lousy laptop solutions.

Um, while AMD did refinance some of its debt, that means it will pay more, not less interest. In AMD's own words, all it managed to do was put off maturity of its next major debt repayment event until December of 2017. When you do not repay, but instead stretch out the time for repayment for a debt, you pay additional interest over the extension period. AMD's crushing debt-service costs went up and longer, not down.

    It just keeps getting better.

"The ombudsman concluded the EU should have made a record of the meeting. The finding of maladministration is the most serious sanction the ombudsman can issue."

The misconduct was of the highest, most prejudicial variety under EU laws.

In 2009 the head commissioner on the Intel decision was booted out of competition, likely for incompetence of the sort seen in the maladministration of the Intel case.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy
