You are not totally accurate either. Zander sold off automotive. Demoting it from a sector was one of his first things after taking over.
What you said about Symbol was true, but the same thing applied to General Instrument...
Actually it only took him 7 years or 8 years.
7 if you count his time as CEO.
8 if you start in 2007 when he was named "second in command".
How can this be? All the bad businesses are sold! This should have been a good Q, and it was, as only one month of it had that bad Symbol business.
But now we are told both Sales AND EPS will be lower than expected for 2015!!!
With a full year of FOCUS on the "great" legacy business, how can this be????
Maybe the name really needs to be "Motorola Problems".
Under Chris G earnings were reliably reported the THIRD week after the quarter end.
Under Brown is has slipped to the FOURTH week, and now the FIFTH week after quarter end. And this is with a much smaller MOT than Chris G had.
One must wonder why.....
Greg Brown has passed a significant milestone. He is now third longest serving CEO of MOT, having passed Chris Galvin in January.
He has also passed Chris G in destruction of share holder value, as well.
