Remove the JEW and I agree...they bow at the Altar of Mammon of that there is no doubt.

But here's a giggle....who do you think elects them to their office, eh? HEH! So before go getting all sanctimoniously critical of them you'd best look in the mirror....the American People have only themselves to blame for the situation they are in. Pure and simple. And that's all I have to say about that...

What else would you expect? For her to run in circles shrieking the sky is falling the sky is falling? ;-)

Meanwhile bid looks to be consolidating in the $17.40 area.....

  • highlowsel highlowsel Jan 14, 2015 11:41 AM Flag

Tom: But that's the nature of markets and the bid/ask process of all participants. It's been that way since.....well....in the context of our modern era...since the first three guys got together under a tree down on Wall Street and started negotiating a price on the merits of some beaver pelts.....(or something to that effect). All markets are like this...since time began. Why? Because human beings are the players....and we all know how perfect we are, eh? Heh!

Meanwhile..hey...maybe a double bottom test after all? Bid now $15.96....but I don't trust it...we've seen this intraday movie every day since Jan 2.....yank it down....relax to let Pooch bounce then hammer it back down lower, relax and repeat....if you don't see this reoccur...well...bottom (for now)...

  • highlowsel highlowsel Jan 14, 2015 11:23 AM Flag

Don't know from mafia but I do agree the buy side cannot fight this rout. In fact...they're not. They've basically gone to the sidelines and are letting the sell side team run the field unopposed. This tends to happen, in either direction, during such times as these.....if you catch it the right way...as Mdb did with his/her short at $16.60...well....you're all a'giggle....for the rest....it's now all about watching and waiting for the turn to play it....if'n yer not shrieking from the pain of this period. Bid now $15.87 and setting up for more downside...

    PM bid $16.30

Well I had to step away for a couple hours and, upon return, I see the sell side has acted in predictable fashion first diving Poochie to the mid $15.80's then relaxing for a bounce back north...briefly...of $16.120 and now the bid is back at $15.92 and fading just like it has every day since the year began. A possible double bottom test is setting up here....double bottom off the slide from $18.20, plus the bid is now back at the early October level...the level it got pummeled to the last post earnings before going on to gradually recover. Ordinarily I'd bet the bounce but we haven't experience earnings yet.....I put the odds at 50-50 that post earnings sees the bid down around the ultimate October low of ~$15.40.....that presuming nothing's amiss. If there IS something nasty in the off'ing....well....$14's anyone?

For now the sell side tactical game is full on....bid now $16.93 and yet again crumpling....Did someone say fugly day today?

Here it comes.....PM bid now $16.21 and crumpling....if we thought the sell side action had been strong, on low volume, since Jan 2 I suspect we haven't seen anything yet.....I suspect we'll see $16...and probably spend the next month or so trying to consolidate in the $15's......hmmmm....probably should have gone short like Mdb stated he/she has done....that's the play for this month if not quarter....

Nowagron....yesterdays close was....what....$58.84..and you're looking for a retrench back to high $53's/$54's? You're talking.....roughly back to last May's line? Hmmmm......not sure I see that given the PM action....which always tends to be overreactive (up/down) not cautious....and so far the reaction is....muted? This when compared against your thinking....but let's see how it plays...

    Bid now $57.70....

Guster: I had to laugh....I was listening to a CNBC invited talking head talk about the sector...ostensibly about JPM.....he compared banking to the asbestos/smoking industries. At first I was like..."Whaaaa?" But then....his comparison was based on the reality that those industries have been under the constant pale of legal actions for decades....all due to their intrinsic nature.

Now...although I don't believe the banking sector has comparable intrinsics.....still...there is some truth to the argument that legal actions can boat-anchor the sector ad naseum for years...and that's the real and very basic driving nature of the never ending FUD that swirls around BAC and all the rest....bottom line? As buttoned down and placid as one would think banking would/should be it turns out from an investor standpoint it is NOT for the faint of heart? Somehow the sector has morphed into a high risk category? So it goes...

    Bid $16.35.....

Gyoung: Agreed....guess it'll depend on how mgmnt spins this....PM bid now $58.10....

  • And so the sector earnings begins...

PM Bid now $57.61 but the spread from there to the ask is huge...

Down Master takes da Pooch. I won't be surprised to see $16 tested today....man-o-man their earnings better be top notch of did someone say something about the $15's or $14's? BAC is riding a "get out of town" downhill rail...and has been since the year began....

PM bid now $16.28....last sale at $16.35 so far...

Go.4: True enough...it's all a question of your time frame, eh? There's an axiom often stated but seldom actually honored...the one about buying when there's blood in the street and selling when everyone things downside has been rescinded as a rule of the game. Everyone is squealing the sky if falling where this commodity is concerned. Everyone is saying we're all doomed! Err....I paraphrase but that's the gist....and these are the very same folk less than a year ago were saying the sky's the limit, there is no downside, etc. I propose they are just as wrong now as they were then. You've just got to be mindful of the situation and play it Buffett-style...all markets are cyclical....if the history of the last couple hundred years haven't convinced you of this....all markets are cyclic...buy low....sell high...and short high...cover low. It's the maxim I've lived by as a trader since circa' 1980...I see no reason to change it...

Bid now $17.54....closing my $17.20 trade here...bird in hand and all that...I'll revisit tomorrow...

Ecg: LOL! Sharp indeed. Clean...quick...no pain (?). Heh! Anyway....look'it THAT! I'm actually green on the play!? Bid now $17.37. This on a day where, if you've been watching, the Dow has gone from being up over 200pts to now being down over 120pts. Think about that for a sec....the Dow swings, intraday, by +300pts...and here's the thing....this has become almost the NORM. Amazing....and in every way says (to me) that HFT's/Algos's and machinery in general are the prime movers in this market. The humans? We're incidental...chaff or grist to be ground by the machines.

Okay..so much for philosophy....now for reality...perhaps USO is bottoming? Bid now $17.41 and gathering some strength...

Dr:: Well I've got to give credit when it's due....it looks like you get the gold star stapled to the forehead (heh) for the call of the day. Granted there's about 50 minutes left...and anything can happen...but with the bid now at $95.75 I'd say your call is secure. Take a bow son, take a bow! ;-)

    If there's a saving grace?

Okay.l..I'm back and see that indeed Master yanked da Pooch into the mid-$16.30's before again pausing? Bid now back at ~$16.46...but it comes to this....since the $18.20 line it's been a pattern of lower highs and lower lows. The bid has been stair-stepped down ever since....and the intraday is just a reflection of what's gone on since Jan 2, 2015. So....until that pattern changes....this is what it is....which means if the sell side once again goes on the attack off this bounce to .45...which I fully expect it will do....there's little preventing a retreat to the $16 area....that'll make a full ~12% retrenchment from the start of year highs....something I wouldn't have thought possible but there you go....

Bid now .43 and again crumpling

  • Take a look at the charts of XLF, JPM, C, WFC, et.al. You can dam near overlay them on top of each other....and they all just took a dump at about the same time....so...whatever is going on ain't the exlusive province of BAC....it's at the least sector-wide...

Errrr..imo, of course...I'm stepping out for a time....I rate the odds at grreater than 50/50 that when I get back the bid's circling the $16.30's....seems to be the kind of day it is...

Well there's one saving grace to this. Volume is running below average....and though the sell side game has been engaged what it amounts to....is it doesn't take much selling for the bid to crumple. It's basically a case of the buy side standing aside and letting lightesh volume drive the bid down...but whenever the bid bounces it's on heavier volume....so...one could conclude that the buy side is merely taking advantage of the light volume day...in preparation for better times "tomorrow?" But even so....even if that's the case....where's the buy side's "enough is enough" line? Because once again the bid got taken down to $16.56 whereat the buying surged the bid back to $16.68 yet again stepped aside and let the selling hammer the bid back to .56 where it now sits...so even though it's light volume, and the buying when it occurs is heavy, the sell side continues to drive the overall direction of the bid....and right now that appears to be sub .50 because once again the bid just got crumpled to .53....they're stair-stepping the bid lower.....

Jeff: Not necessarily...look at what Nest pointed out about the way the last Q unfolded....ultimately it proved out for the buy side....but not without a fair amount of mischief pre/post earnings...

Bid $16.56. This ain't even fair right now. Poochie ain't even trying to fight....the buy side is just rolling over and laying there while the selling just keeps a'goin'.......it's all break the bid which plops lower then break it again and plop it lower....

Mdb going short at .61 is the correct call if'n this keeps up.....
