    "Ten percent-ish, miss."

Yup...and from Jan 2 to today the pps is down by...what.....~12%? Actually...more like ~14% with PM trading at $15.70? I suspect at least some portion of this news is now built into the pps.....but...that said....now it's all about going forward....and with your suggested FUD still running rampant across the sector....well...there's nothing to indicate blue skies any time soon. All remains overcast and....FUD'y (heh).

At this point it appears getting back to the start of year highs of $18.20 may take the remainder of the year.....that's worse case.....bottom line? Longer term the projections are cloudy for the pps on this equity...be you long or short....stagnate seems to be the order of things....but....given this is a darling of the chug and churn set if'n yer trading it....well....volatility and volume make it a darling, too?

    Let's see what happens today.

  • There it is....PM reaction so far? "Down goes Frazier!" Current bid $15.67. Let's see how much damage is done given the damage since Jan 2 may have already built in some of this....

Nope...been ratcheting in a position more or less since ~$17.50....so I''m red on some positions...now green on others (bid at $16.10). It's clearly bouncing off a possible bottom though one half of one day do not a trend reversal make...indeed...so far the bid will still close the classic ~2% down-bubble on the day if it closes here at $16.11. Now...if it could close flat that'd be sweet....'course....that (and this small bounce) could be a set-up "walk yerself face first into a earnings related buzz saw" tomorrow from the buy side perspective but.....guess we'll just have to wait and see how this all plays out....

A_Hunt....Technicals just turned indeed. Bid now ~$18.20. Waaay too soon to call a turn off a bottom since one half of one day do not a trend reversal make....but it appears to be setting up that way.. Let's see how it plays out the remainder of the week..

But...but...now that you've said that....bid $17.86 and surging...? Was it sumthin' you said? I don't know about you but I hate it when sumthin' like that happens to me. Fortunately this time I'm in a trade at a lower in the day basis. So forgive me cheering go, USO goooooo!

    Bid now $17.96...

Bac: You could be right. Especially if past is prologue to future. The only thing I'd point out is those past dips didn't come into the face of an overall market that is as it is right now....the Dow is getting ripped to shreds....the commodity sector looks like a bunch of drunks in a concert mosh pit are pummeling each other....everything is gyrating wildly all over the place. My gut thinking on this is we're watching the extremes of HFT/Algo/machine trading, trading which dominates the volumes these days, play out...if the market is a machine it's acting pretty much like a bamboozeled chitty chitty bang bang contraption....like it's about to blow apart....and here's the giggle part....nobody...and I mean no....body....knows the why of it....they never do....I'm not waxing apocalyptic as history also indicates it'll recover in some fashion....only that...well..what's that 'ol adage....."When fending/fighting off the crocodiles it's hard to remember the original intent was to drain the swamp?"

It's a cluster out there for now....I should'a had more shorts in place than the ones I do have....but so it goes....bid $15.84...

  • highlowsel highlowsel Jan 14, 2015 1:47 PM Flag

Not a chance of that happening today. It'll be lucky to close north of $15.80 since the bid just got broken to $15.78...there is zero buy side support of bid. For not it's going to $15.50....and probably by this time tomorrow will be south of $15 unless something spectacular occurs earnings wise...after that...well...mucho wound licking for the buy side camp....the bid won't be recovering from this one any time soon.....

Meanwhile....sell side pause is letting the bid again bounce at $15.86....tell me you don't know the drill on this pattern by now, eh?

Bac: "We will see some HUGE up days."

Errrr...are you talking about 'ol chug and churn BAC? This I doubt though I do agree that todays 3.65% (so far) sell off is waaay overdone.....perhaps this is pricing out tomorrows worst case scenario? Who can say but we'll certainly find out. Regardless...for now it's a sell side game...one that has intensified a lot since yesterday....indeed the volume today looks like another one of those high-water marks setting up....looks like volume will be well north of 100M, if the current +89M is any indication....so this could be a capitulation phase being entered....be that as it may the damage done since 2015 began will not soon be fixed......it's a tough time to be on the long side of the financials....

NovagronL: With the bid now at $55.66 I gotta give you a star for thinking $53/54....it doesn't look like a bad call at this point. ...the bid is about back at where it was in mid Aug and again in mid-Oct of last year....I suspect it'll take some time to recover from todays damage....I've been waiting for an entry line on this one....looks like it's coming up....or at least starting to look very attractive here....let's see how the rest of the week plays out...

Bid again at $15.85/6 for the third time today...I suspect this time the sell side will go for the throat and shove Pooch southward with emphasis....Dow also off ~300pts...again....might as well turn the machines off now (if you're long)....we all know how the day is setting up again to end....

Tigger: Just keep yer wits about you and play the overshoot extremes....which always happen in this game. And learn to block out the shrieking catawailing noises of the mega-phone men/women...all those self-annointed pundits of the "know"..You know....those folks who must be remarkably adept at driving their vehicles by looking in the rear-view mirror....because they always have a stunning ability to state the obvious at the time...but little ability (by dint of small correct percentages) in forecasting the future....

    Bid $15.95..

Tom: You're describing naked shorting. And we all know that's verbotten in this game. How so? Why it's in the Fed RULES that's why! So it can't be happening, can it? Heh! I'm not condoning it mind you...it cranks me up, too. It's only that....well....there's absolutely nothing I can do about it so I let it go....it is what it is....

Zach: I don't know from huge pop but that's my bet....waaaay oversold here....I suspect this straight (down) line fever is about to break....at least...if all the talking head "woe is all" choir off to the side of this play is any indication. They are at a crescendo wailing over it....which always means the current play is coming to an end? ;-)

    Bid $17.40..

Remove the JEW and I agree...they bow at the Altar of Mammon of that there is no doubt.

But here's a giggle....who do you think elects them to their office, eh? HEH! So before go getting all sanctimoniously critical of them you'd best look in the mirror....the American People have only themselves to blame for the situation they are in. Pure and simple. And that's all I have to say about that...

What else would you expect? For her to run in circles shrieking the sky is falling the sky is falling? ;-)

Meanwhile bid looks to be consolidating in the $17.40 area.....

  • highlowsel highlowsel Jan 14, 2015 11:41 AM Flag

Tom: But that's the nature of markets and the bid/ask process of all participants. It's been that way since.....well....in the context of our modern era...since the first three guys got together under a tree down on Wall Street and started negotiating a price on the merits of some beaver pelts.....(or something to that effect). All markets are like this...since time began. Why? Because human beings are the players....and we all know how perfect we are, eh? Heh!

Meanwhile..hey...maybe a double bottom test after all? Bid now $15.96....but I don't trust it...we've seen this intraday movie every day since Jan 2.....yank it down....relax to let Pooch bounce then hammer it back down lower, relax and repeat....if you don't see this reoccur...well...bottom (for now)...

  • highlowsel highlowsel Jan 14, 2015 11:23 AM Flag

Don't know from mafia but I do agree the buy side cannot fight this rout. In fact...they're not. They've basically gone to the sidelines and are letting the sell side team run the field unopposed. This tends to happen, in either direction, during such times as these.....if you catch it the right way...as Mdb did with his/her short at $16.60...well....you're all a'giggle....for the rest....it's now all about watching and waiting for the turn to play it....if'n yer not shrieking from the pain of this period. Bid now $15.87 and setting up for more downside...

    PM bid $16.30

    by highlowsel Jan 14, 2015 7:02 AM
highlowsel highlowsel Jan 14, 2015 11:15 AM Flag

Well I had to step away for a couple hours and, upon return, I see the sell side has acted in predictable fashion first diving Poochie to the mid $15.80's then relaxing for a bounce back north...briefly...of $16.120 and now the bid is back at $15.92 and fading just like it has every day since the year began. A possible double bottom test is setting up here....double bottom off the slide from $18.20, plus the bid is now back at the early October level...the level it got pummeled to the last post earnings before going on to gradually recover. Ordinarily I'd bet the bounce but we haven't experience earnings yet.....I put the odds at 50-50 that post earnings sees the bid down around the ultimate October low of ~$15.40.....that presuming nothing's amiss. If there IS something nasty in the off'ing....well....$14's anyone?

For now the sell side tactical game is full on....bid now $16.93 and yet again crumpling....Did someone say fugly day today?
