seeking alpha piece that breaks down KO buybacks and option awards, net net. buffett is OK with KO taking that much equity from shareholders for non performance ? Are IBM numbers much different ? Is uncle warren going to, get it ? FINALLY ? Stay tuned.
thanks sean, so I checked ibm. ave daily v about 4.2 million shares. so buffett thinks he can buy say 700, 000 shares a day for 100 days and have little effect on the stock price. beautiful, in the case of ibm he was able to buy from obviously smarter sellers so he didn't drive the stock much higher. I guess he never said he could sell 700,000 Bs a day until he was all out of his stock without hurting brks price to BV. IF buffett ever did a real interview I would love to ask, IF you were buying 700,000 shs a day of brk not ibm for 100 days in 2011, how would that have effected the price of both ibm and brk during that time period ??
++ Buffett's said it before in interviews often when talking about acquiring stock but applied it to dispositions as well. It's a very widespread number on the internet though, whether its accurate or not I dont know. ++
sean, there is no way buffett ever said that bro. plus, its all over the internet that Obama is a Muslim and Bush helped plan 9/11, come on bud, that number is crazy. btw, buffett is converting As to Bs for donations. About 6 years ago there were 750 million Bs in the Float, today its about 1.2 Billion shares, is that material ? IF those 500 million Bs were converted back to As and never sold, would brkb be trading at a higher price to BV than 1.25 xs bv ?
++ The general rule of thumb is that a large shareholder can sell about 20% of average trading volume without moving price significantly. ++
thanks sean, who uses that, general rule of thumb , where did you read that ? brkbs recent ADV is about 4.2 million shares a day. are you saying buffett and his, affiliates, in the aggregate, can sell say 700, 000 shares a day with no problem for the next 10 years ? thanks.
its a very well done piece by, seeking a.
++ average holding period of a stock is like 4 months, so while you might see a little short term price pressure if a real big block is going to be sold, it tends to be fairly short lived.++
you really have to rethink this issue or its going to cost you over the years. Why do so many IPOs offer very few shares in the IPO relative to the shares issued and outstanding ? lets start there, while its POURING in las vegas. this way we can keep iggying you know who.
even I never knew I was that important ?? UNrealllllllllll !! stalker, how much are the fools paying you ? lets do lunch bro, I wanna show u a few CONfirms.
too funny. yo z, were you stealing while I was gone ?
++Jan and Dave Anglin, take heed!
You've been warned.++
finally you make a real time call, they SHOULD make the investment without meeting with a securities lawyer , well done. its not ez batting WRONG 1000 % of the time with 8 different IDs, amazing work.
DO NOT sign that agreement without consulting a lawyer with securities expertise , period. I'm not a lawyer, been around the block a few times, I'll leave it at that. good luck. hc.
from that story, amazing,
++ In fact, Two Sigma’s data scientists and systems analyze more than 10,000 data sources, using 75,000 CPUs with 750 terabytes of memory. Their hedge funds have executed more than 1.2 billion trades over the last 14 years.++
his quote from the story,
"The market bottoms out when people are selling and sold out — not when they are holding and hoping. I don't think you've seen real selling in risk assets broadly. Markets need buying to go up and they need volume to go up. They can fall just on gravity."
brk, q-2 filing,
CBI - Chicago Bridge & Iron Company 0.43 - 9,326,921 Reduce 12.84% $50.04 ++
so far, the sale at 50 looks brilliant, what if brk sold more or all in q-3 ? Would that change the cbi story ? Will more sellers follow brk,out ? Is there any RISK in buying what brk is selling ? sad.
they MUST understand this concept. What if brk continues to sell cbi, maybe even dump it all, would that concern cbi, long, experts ? Can buffett sell ibm, now, at what price ? did he trap himself by not buying brk instead ? good lessons in barrons today never taught at brkville high !!
for my old friend Jim and his pals, in expertsville,
++ An old Wall Street proverb says, “Liquidity is only there when you don’t need it.” When markets come under stress, prices that looked rock-solid can vanish into thin air — a lesson many investors learned painfully in 2008 and 2009.++
++ Under the proposal, mutual funds and ETFs would have to estimate the number of days needed to sell each of their holdings “at a price that does not materially affect the value of that asset immediately prior to sale.” (Good luck getting that precisely right.) ++
yep, even in 2015, eco 101 stills has merit !! what will experts say now, NOT in brk ?? sad.
