Nestle has never lowered its dividend year-on-year in the last 50 years; and it's increased its dividend every year since 1995. But it's a Swiss company and its base currency is the Swiss franc, so the dividend can fluctuate with the US$/franc exchange rate.
In the long run the Swiss franc has been a sounder currency than the US$. One Swiss franc was worth about 50 cents in 1980; now one Swiss franc is worth a tad over $1. Or the dollar used to be worth 2 francs in 1980, now it's worth less than one franc, if you prefer to look at it that way.
