the dollar will keep strengthening, and the price of oil will keep dropping...a one two punch to lift the retail sector...this move is just gaining full traction..IMHO.....and will help SHLD on its comeback trail
isn't this one two punch going to increase Sears earnings going forward, and give its customers more dough-re mi...to buy stuff?? Seems like retail not the sector to short going forward..Our local sears is a bit old fasioned looking..but well stocked, and very popular with Mexican families...And this CEO..has A LOT OF SKIN IN THE GAME..and that's not even mentioning his plans for REIT..coolest supermarket in Chicago moving in with Sears..open in 1 year..right across from a large and remodeling Walgreens.....Corner Harlem and Noth Ave any Chicogoan knows thiis intersection
with the price LE pays for its foreign merchandise coming down (stronger dollar) and the continuing drop in oil, I would think holding a short position here would be dicey..I took a modest long position today, and am advising my wife to do the same
having a profound effect on profitability for retailors buying foreign goods to sell in their stores..Sears included..ramping up profits......And this cheap oil is giving middle and lower class shoppers more spending money..I think most pro-shorts have cut and run from retail..Mostly small less savvy players trying to short retail sector now....Not to mention the coming REIt and other changes IMHO
doesn't this strong dollar, which most think will last for some time ahead bode well for profits retail in general and Sears now buying all these imported clothes and much more profitably, and combine that with cheap energy tax cut for the working, lower and middle classes I mean isn't this going to give Sears some good numbers looking ahead? Not to mention their REIT and other plans. I think retail needs a guy like Eddie who thinks out of the box!!
quite busy .bought my Blue Water men's cologne.....many, many Mexican families there ..Sears high profile in Mexico...upscale and popular.....Mariano's Supermarket coming 1 year.....Mariano's is hitting Chicago area like a combo Whole Foods/Trader Joe's....Mariano's will be in front..Sears in back..Sears owns a very large swath of land there..
just call me Darth Vadar..going to Sears after my morning work for my favorite men's cologne Blue Water .Sears has a pretty good price..I may be a devil (so you say) but I will at least be a good smelling one!!!!
this Trifecta for retail department stores is lifting my other similar hodings like WMT and BURL this will help Sears also .IMHO
our local Sears has MANY Mexican families shopping there..I see Sears has many stores in Mexico, now owned by a differnt company (a billionaire named Carlos Slim) but still showing the large Sears sign, and they are advancing and upscaling..Makes me think our growing Mexican population comes here with a positive energy towards Sears Maybe that is why so many Mexican families shop there. Future of this....just sayin....
Did you see the interview on Bloomberg in which the pretty lady business and stock maven, was interviewing a highly successful and powerful fund manager..and they both realized that they don't shop at Sears, and that the people theyknow don't shop there either. I was shocked! I told my wife, and she said "did you realy think that pretty lady on TV would shop at Sears? Maybe Nordstrom, Neiman/Marcus, or boutiques" !! "Right", I said. But we do see many working class families at our local Sears. Even if the pretty lady business expert on Bloomberg and her friends don't go there.
everyone knows it!!......In the past I have always lost out when I invested against them..So I will not extend my long position here at all....But it seems that shorts are in a frenzy to try and scare those long out of their shares...I believe some well connected sources, are allied with the short position..trying to mis-lead investors.....This does make me think the short position is starting to feel trapped..........IMHO
but looks like one of the streets most renowned heavily shorted positions, feels a need to go "whole hog" to try and put down this company, Sears, and defend their short position......that even includes their TV and publication connections....shorts must feel threatened or they would not be on such an offensive...I have a diversified portfolio, but will stick around to see how this megillah turns out.....I wonder if Ed can take them all on??
1 Sustained low energy (gas)prices giving non-millionaires like Sears shoppers more spending power (CHRISTMAS NOW) ..2 Cold November driving sales of coats, hats, gloves, sweaters, etc 3 Strong dollar making cost of merchandise less for retail store .Won't these hit the bottom line for Sears ..add a minor 2 of huge short position and highly motivated people running company.......Just sayin...
headline today 1 expert's opinion ...will hit the bottom line for Sears profits..due to all its importing..correct??
