You seem to be arguing that the market is somehow accurately valuing these stocks (i.e., "market says RVM worth only so much more than MGN..."). If that were the case, then you are wasting your time, as you would never be in a position of having more information than the market and would therefore never be able to pick stocks that would outperform the market at large. That's the crux of efficient market theory, which has been completely debunked. Right now is one of the best illustrations of this, as there are many mining companies whose market caps bear little relation to the demonstrable underlying value. RZZ was a great example. For a year it traded at 0.50, even though simple math showed that it was worth considerably more regardless of assumptions. Then one day the market decided it was worth $2.00, and now $4.00, all without any "new news". Another stock I've had for a while (NCX -- Northisle Copper) traded at 2.5-3 cents for over a year; I woke up a few days ago and saw that it was at 9 cents, so I sold it. The mining market right now only reflects disinterest and inertia -- pretty lame for trading, but a potentially once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for those with the fortitude to stick it out for as long as may be necessary without focusing on scalping a few bucks here and there. As for MGN, I could sell a couple of my Canadian positions and easily buy enough MGN to close it at $0.85. I could also sell all of my RVM and probably close it under a buck. Would that mean anything about the relative values of these two particular companies? On another note, it looks like Shanahan just sold 55K shares. I'm sure he just needed some cash for his kids' college or whatever, but he could have timed this a bit more shrewdly...
