and 5 years ago , that was also my sentiment .. now , i'm not so sure .. in the past , when IBM
reinvented itself , hardware was THE game and they had only minor competition , today , the
focus is on the cloud and IBM is woefully behind the curve ..
I blame S. Palmissano , old line salesman and stuck on the old stories ... IBM was touting
"utility computing " , back in the mid 80's .. they knew it would come someday , but did not
set the table , now they will try to feed on scraps and grow ... ain't gonna work ...
for shareholder to ever get their due , the company must be broken up and what's left needs to
have serious focus on where it's going ... garce

GE has already stated that the div will remain the same for 16 ...
i'm expecting a very nice boost going into 17 , or maybe a moderate boost and special div ..
we should also see a large reduction in outstanding shares ... stock price should look a whole
lot better 12 months from now ...garce

all trump will have to do , is breakdown the cost of building the wall , then express how many people will
gain employment building it , then offer Mexico half of those jobs ... Just tell Mexico that the wall will help
keep damned yankees out of Mexico .. g

you should do some deeper analysis ... just at the time that Jeff was ready to move , the world imploded , putting
everything on hold .. he was hawking the appliance div back in 08 , but things unravelled before anything
    could happen ..
one the bank debacle started , nobody could make any moves ..
by waiting on the financials spinoffs , he got much better prices ...
he has now rid GE of the appliances and also a major chunk of financials and has made some good
    acquisitions ...
nothing wrong with GE .... g

the div hit 10%+ in the early 90's , when IBM tanked to 42 , it was quickly cut severely after
that point .. at the time , that was a good thing , but then the mainframe was considered to be
a dinosaur and strings of servers would replace big iron ...
IBM knew something at that time , that the rest of the world would find out ... big iron was absolutely
necessary for security ... then there was another upgrade cycle and the div cut was positive as IBM
    regained traction ..
too bad the BOD insisted that Lou groom another "home grown ceo" .. Palmisano screwed the
pooch .. he should have just taken massive revenues from that mainframe cycle and put it
    to work ..
IBM crowed about 2nd city and also cloud computing , long before it became a workplace
term , but did little to grow that business .. in the meantime , many smaller outfits had no
problem finding financing and collectively took away a market that IBM could have dominated ..
Once pc's started to show that they would be more than curiosities , IBM sat back , with it's
loathing of consumer products and watched .. then , when their customers threatened to buy
their big iron from companies that would also give them top to bottom tools , with PC's , IBM
jumped in , greatly improved on existing models and then dominated ..
I am certain that the same mentality existed with regard to the "cloud" ... let the rest
fumble while we rely on the big iron legacy , then we'll come in and show everyone how the
cloud works and dominate that area ...
    THEY GOOFED !!!!
There is absolutely NO market(s) that IBM or any other company can dominate in the historic
manner that IBM did for so many decades ... the IBM culture still has not learned how
to integrate and work in some world outside of it's comfort zone .. .
This company needs a real overhaul and someone to gut it and get down to business ..
Ginny is probably fully capable of doing this , but the BOD has her shackled , as well as
    dinosaurs within . gar

the 2 x 2 developed for military application was fine with 2 subpixel colors , but
somebody whistled in their ear that a consumer model would need 3 subpixel
colors .. and yes , the rigged up a proto for Dan to show around .

i have not seen anything to support that , Sculley did mention in a cc( i think it was the
Q2) , that the 3 color pixels would be ready by 12/15 and development kits available in
Q4 of this year .. i'm assuming that it's a go since the discussions started about the
    tier 1 company .. .g

surr .. i took that to mean that they have a 2 pronged strategy .. make their own hmd and also license to
a tier one , who will find or outfit a fab that can produce our microdisplays .. Sculley said that there are
2 or 3 fabs that could be capable at that time ...
capital raised to beef up the line at EF .. my guess is that there's some new equipment needed for the
    direct patterning ...

i'd leave that one alone .. because it was the corrupt politicians in Wash. DC that handed out all of
the subsidies that gave the illusion that solar power is manna from heaven .. .

yup , this one is coming into focus for the shorts .... most likely , there will be some sort of technical bounce
or rally and you can bet they will load up ..
watched this same thing happen a few years ago to A123 battery company ....
folks have to realize that even a 2 dollar stock is great fodder for shorts , they'll run it into the ground ...
also , the new Moroccan solar unit doesn't use pv chips , but gens steam from the sun and it's
powerful ... certainly not for all locations , but electricity is very mobile .. g

frank , you bring a lot to the table , but it's time to dial back on the #$%$ with
our detractors .. at this point you are only feeding them ... quit it ...
the crew has been through this before ... back when rock3 & 4 would launch
diatribes and post pages full in a day ... the rest of us have been there too ..
have you noticed that we are pretty much staying out the fray ?
a few more weeks and we'll have lots of real stuff to chew on
also , you should know that posters like billboard and boardwalk will crow
about their expertise when the stock rises .. all useless ... treat'em like
boil on a tender part !!!

still plenty of ammunition and the FED does not hold all of it .........
strange thing about history , most people tend to forget it ..........
granted , many people today were not even born when the executive branch stepped in , but
the executive AND congress branches have their own ammo to use when FED policy is not
    working ...........
Nixon was the last to use price and wage controls .... not saying that such a thing works , or
may only be a stop gap measure , but it's ammunition , nonetheless ...g
the media screws things up so much that nobody could hope to know what's really going on ..
we just don't get 360 deg. reporting .. garce

yeah , right billyhorn ... if that's the case , then IBM could have runoff the rest of
the current platform , then close it down ...
GF wanted that space and they will do something with it ... IBM , as stupid as they
seem sometimes , is not a total bumbler ... more than likely , IBM knew this
day was coming for a few years and as such was not upgrading tools ,and
GF will have to rebuild the foundry ...
the IBM site offers infrastructure to deliver and dispose of gasses and liquids
needed for semi mfg .. that's a big deal for a foundry ... also the geographic
    location is prime ...
your obvious agenda is as hideous as Hillary Clinton's ....
