scotch tonight schatz , my sweetie and i are going to dinner , then we'll attack that
jug of Balentines that i bought for her bday (mine is tomorrow , so we gots lotsa
celebratin' to do ) ... can't drink all that much beer anymore .. type II diabetes . so now i sneak'em and they are great ! .. g
IBM revenues from High Performance Computing are too small to even bother reporting. They've completely lost to architectures like Tesla GPU and they have completely missed the high performance supercomputing workstation market.
BS .. IBM hasn't yet levered their high performance computers , though that's changing
fast , as they on full speed for enterprise cloud platform ...
In horse racing , you don't make a lot money betting on the best horse to win , but make
a few place and show bets on 2nd tier ponies and frequent your bank to make deposits ..
it's all about business and there are many components , aside from having the
best product .. IBM figured this out decades ago ...
Cray has always made the fastest computers .. have you ever heard of them ?? Have
you seen their revenues ?? pocket lint ... g
what difference does that make ??? IBM prints money faster than God .. it's been that way for over 1/2 a
century ... back in the heyday of mainframes .. IBM was far from the fastest or the best , but their
unparallel service alowed them beat the pants off of everybody ..
you don't need the best mousetrap to catch the most mice ....
not to worry .. IBM has baffled the pros for decades , which is why there is so much hate for IBM .. every time
the analysts come out with some sort of doom and gloom story , IBM wallops the world ...
NOW .. your 2 posts come across as being completely negative . .to what end ? Do you want to see
IBM founder ? are you perpetually short IBM ? If you cannot figure out why a company has made trillions
in revenue and hundreds of billions in profits over the years , then maybe the stock market is not
your cup of tea .... garce ...
PS ... don't come back here and cry next year , after IBM crosses 250 and how you didn't make
any money on it , because YOU can't figure out what product they lead the pack in .....
i fully agree with you tex ... humans have a difficult time seeing the forest for the trees ..
i bought into HEK after following and doing dd for 6 months ... my premise was as flawed as
Jimmy Cramer's , which had the effect of negating everything else .. and that was that
Nat Gas drilling would explode and the drillers would have to rely on a 3rd party to
handle water concerns ... i bought then finally bailed after a haircut and further DD , not
on the company but the water problems with fracking ...
to wit : a decision to use NES , or some other 3rd party , VS establishing "in house"
water handling .. for large drillers with a concentration of wells in some area , it
would be cheaper for them to use their own resources ... exploration areas will
most likely vendor out water handling in the beginning and switch to internal processing
as the scale of drilling passes a tipping point .
NES will get some business as a 2nd source ini boom areas .
Also ... there are alternate fracking technologies developing that would mean using
less water , or eliminating the bad aspects of same ..
all in all , i became far less impressed with the business opportunities going forward
and the way that the company was cobbled together required a high nat gas
price coupled with frenetic drilling ...
to sum up .. I let my emotions override logic , as i am sure that many others did
also .. it's time to move on ...
yeah .. so what ... this the way that the greatest system on Earth works .. it's called capitalism ...
i don't what these guys complain about on this board ... it's good for the company and it's
shareholders .. this is a stock message board , not an employee grievance forum , there are other
venues for that ...
so many times , employees and former employees seem to think that a company will tank because
they let some people go or don't treat them like crib denizens ... i worked around many of these
people during my career and to a person , the complainers never looked in the mirror , nor
heeded mgmt suggestions for improvement , just expectations of milk and honey because they
got hired and attend the workplace .. Life is what we make of it .. furthermore , it is not fair , which
puts resistance into the formula , which , in turn .. makes the system more Darwinian .. survival
of the fittest(or those willing to face reality and forge ahead from there ... garce
just ignore AH trades .. 99% of the time , they mean nothing .. i would posit that many times ,
those things are mm's fishing for a price , trying to set an open the next day ....
in those 1% times , you will probably see a huge move in the AH and it's too late to do
anything , but hold on ... g
and thank you much ... tho' i have to believe that anyone who took your advice , when BMY was in
the low 20's might just be toting something with a scope on it while they hunt you down ..
ever since i bought in BMY below 20 , you have been bashing the company and telling people to
get out ........... My guess is that you are one of those guys from Georgia or the Ukraine trying
to undermine the terrific systems we have here in the US ... has Homeland Sec contacted you
yet ??? get ready and be ready dude ... check your door fo crepe !!! LOLOLOL
back in '08 , once it became obvious that something big was happening , i choose to look at the markets as
going through a massive correction , which would then mean a radical rotation .. it was my thesis that the
next bull market would belong to the large caps .. sure there have been the netflix , and new social network
companies , but just look at most of the large caps .. and in 13 they acted like small caps with daily
moves of 5% or more ...
Now look at a company like BMY .. it's metrics are looking more and more like a growth company ...and
has been acting that way .. VZ , IBM and others doing the same ...
soooo , i'm not concerned about 6x book or 20 p/e or any of that rot ... the field of biomedicine is still in
it's infancy and those companies who made the right decisions are in for a long long run ...
not saying that BMY will be a $200 stock in three years , but those odds are way better than it returning
to 30 !!! Pretty soon that div will look like pocket lint(my initial shares were at 6%+) ..that's a sign of
a re emerging growth company .. later .. garce
did you read past the headline ?? BMY is getting OUT of the diabetic field .. it's becoming way to crowded ...
good time to sell , it kind of balances that Hep C mistake earlier this year
can't please'm all .. i think that 70 by the end of 14 is quite agressive ... 70 by end of 18 will
be okay , especially since the div grows , but that's bit on the low end ... i can see 70 by
end of 16 ... but then i don't time anything , that's preposterous ... i'll start to peel some
profit over 60 as i have other stocks to get into ... i do buy into the notion that volatility returns
in 14 and we could see a real blowdown in the market .. i do plan to hold about 1/2 of
my current VZ for at least another 5 years , same for BMY ... GE is my new target and i
do want a larger position than i have now . of course , if my microcap performs okay , i'll
take the quid from there leave the VZ and BMY alone .. garce
i do , but on this board and some others that would mean no posts most days ... LOL ... besides , the
trolls have new id's every day .. it's just a shame
