right on ... but none are more stupid than those who do not own VZ , but have to post on the board ...
What telecom stock have YOU invested in that has done better ?
Does every stock you buy take off like Appl ? Netflix ? Priceline ?
Many of us are very content collecting the rent here, but we also got the bonus of a cap gain to boot !!!
Keep bashing VZ , but you just don't get it ... a well balanced portfolio should have a few issues
that pay nice rent and also have a bit of cap gain , with little downside risk ...g
I have always maintained , that stupid people should advertise ...
good indicator ... it looks like many are waiting to see if the price
decline is a VEE shape , or will last longer .. i believe that it will last
longer .. more damage coming ... sometime in 2nd half of 2015 should
be a good time to wade in .. .garce
btw ... we might also get one of those big bear rallies , i'll wait for
a retest of the lows .. .garce
i agree ... i'm currently doing my DD to determine which companies to buy when
the time is right , but that's still 2-3 quarters off and the picture might still be
a bit muddy even then ...
Current price decline is not a short term blip , the entire industry will be
repricing and rejiggering strategies ...
probably best to wait until the M&A activity starts to better ferret out the
strongest .. garce
it's more about being recognized outside of a small circle , more than the content of an analyst ..
for the time being , it's all about the IHMD ... an announcement of the partner , especially if it's
a large player will yield an immediate rise ...
let's see how things play out ... there is no reason why , at least some
companies, can/will increase revenues on selling more units for less
prices and earnings could also rise from same ... that will wilt that
p/e ... also , capex should be greatly reduced for a while , that will
boost earnings too ... with an economy improving and could run
red hot , the demand will increase volumes produced ..
i don't think that EPS is metric to consider with the oil/gas companies ... they have
been and probably continue to be in growth mode ..
They have been spending capital like drunken sailors on exploration and developing
fields , this will be greatly curtailed and you will see that eps drop like a rock ..
then there is the dynamic of selling more units for less price per unit and having
exploding revenues , couple that with much lower expenses and the picture is
drastically different .
Then consider that the economy might actually be ready roll and demand will remain
strong or grow itself ..
There will be many companies who are way too leverage and get into big trouble ..
cheap fodder for the strong companies ...
One thing that cannot be controlled , is the fixed cost of leases , that will be
a problem for some , but not those who can still profit from great unit sales on
lower prices ..
I still think that the pipes are the better play , and am hoping for some lower prices
to enter ... garce
let's just pray for the baby Jesus tonight ... Merry Christmas to many , Happy Chanukah to
others and Kwannza to others ... garce
thanks Jim , things not looking too good around hear .. last week we had almost enough ice ,
this week we could probably go swimming .. i do have a few places where i could use rod/reel
though ... you guys got enough ice out your way ? ..
don't forget rich folks ... yup ... a large % of top US people of wealth are democrats !!
nowadays ???? many of us knew this nearly 30 years ago (Jimmy Carter ring a bell ? ) ...
it's not directly manipulation .. more than likely , many fund mgrs , who always look to dress up their
windows , at years' ends , saw IBM at a bottom and are buying some to dress up , in addition , the price
was so low , that they actually expected to make a return ...
1st week in Jan will be interesting ... g
i agree .. how about a mandate that no vehicle can attain more than 55 mph and also be outfitted with
cameras ,such that risky lane changers loose their steering ?
Has it struck you yet that the U.S. has been outperforming nearly all other economies?
The thing that has struck me the hardest , is that the US is pushing more and more middle class people
to the level of so many of those other countries .. .
WOW ... and you wonder why you get dissed here ? You have absolutely no understanding of
product development or technology development for that matter ..
you got brainwashed by your history classes in HS ... like Edison inventing the lightbulb and the
world was changed ... electric lighting was over 3 decades in development until TAE struck on
the proper filament materials ... 1879 ... by 1900 , there were still 90% of homes with no electric
lighting and still quite a few mfg companies .. these things are slow moving ... g
forget p/e's with the bio pharmas ... not a good metric , these are growth companies
you have to look at the pipelines , debt structure , cash flow ...
since all the pharmas are getting hit , i have to believe that it's technical reasons ...
taking some profits before year end , raising cash to dress up holdings and such ...
