except that VZ is not cutting it's way anywhere ...
anyone can look at a piece of information and draw whatever conclusion you want ..
fact is , there is no longer work for many of those people and the outlook doesn't show the
need for such a large force ..
have you ever worked for a huge company ?? anyone who has can tell you that there some
"in house retirees" and also some signifigant number who can comfortably retire , then when
you look at whatever newer employees get cut, most can still go out and get a decent paying
job .... no doubt , there will be many caught in the trap .... the 40 and 50 somethings with a
big mortgage and kids in or heading to college ...
fact is , nothing should be made of the cuts ...
VZ is going to sell a bunch of towers .. then lease them back .... i have to imagine that that means
far fewer VZ employees needed for maintenance and probably even upgrading ...
when you analyze a company , you have to think, , then sleep on it and think some more ..
never quit thinking .. .g
Harry , let me put you hip to something ..
Just the fact that VZ could spend $23 billion to get FIOS started should tell you that this is a
very large , very powerful company , add to that 130 bil price tag to buy VOD wireless , no problems
servicing the debt ....
It's one thing to root for an underdog , but don't bet against a winner ... g
not leveraging the patent trove has been a huge mistake for IBM , i don't know why they avoid it like the
plague .. they don't wan to manufacture anything .. okay , then restructure the show , such that licensing
brings in some serious quid , or set up small firms to to do same .. g
ever see how many posts get deleted by Yahoo ? they used to allow links in a post , but now
they catch those and the posts don't go through , they could filter these guys out also ...
thanks , but i'll hold my VZ bought @ 31 and yielding 7% and growing .... garce
oh yeah , those bold guys who bought at 26 ain't sellin' either ... some of us just like income ... g
run , though i do not like the term "it's different this time around"
1) Eman has delivered early user hardware in the form of 2k x 2k chips to an as yet unannounced partner ,
2) mgmt has stated that there will be paradigm for hmd's
3) Emagin is inside Esight , which has been getting tons of buzz for their product to enable the blind to see
4) Emagin has new military contracts that it's working on .
this is a lot more to go on than previous er/cc's
the tech world is abuzz with wearable whateveryouwanttocallit ...
said to say , anything short of breaking up the company will just be exercises in futility ..
an astute business person grown from another pasture is needed to "fix " structural problems ..
however , the saddest thing is that BOD needs to be overhauled and i don't see that happening ..
for a company like IBM , the BOD is supposed to be stacked with people from those businesses
that know what is needed and urge the company to execute ...
somehow , the BOD and the C suite are either "in sync" and have no problem with a slow sinking
ship , or they are just disconnected and can only tread water ...
too bad ... looks like another GE story unfolding , fortunately , for GE , they have finally done
what's needed , tho' it took a debacle to get them off the dime ... garce
shack , how do you figure that ?
don't answer .. i know all the answers ..
that's why so many other companies are smoking Emagin... Google , Apple , FB , SONY , SAMSUNG..
all companies with huge R&D budgets and vast production capacities ... they are selling
everything OLED from general lighting to mammoth tv's ... correct ??
Blaming mgmt is really getting tired
and , once again , you are simply amazed that the company survives and that there are still shareholders
who like the prospects ...
one question ...
when do you get the tingle ? when you hit the post button ?? or when you get a response ??
melt away ..
selling about 11 bil of cell towers
now another 10 bil of wireline to FTR ..
lots of quid coming in to throw at the debt , in addition to truckloads of cash flow ..
maybe we get a real boost to the div this year .. .garce
makes sense to me .. she's a liberal ... liberals like liars because they say what they want to hear ... librals do
not like bitter pills ... g
after reading his blather ,i have to agree .. he omits many of the points that make OLED the only choice for
some apps ...
as OLED adoption and HMD developments continue , there will be oppositional camps and plenty of
tripe over the wires ...
then there will be the confusions with semantics ,,, marketing vs science .... g
eSight has gone viral and millions have learned about us in just the past few days! We will get back to everyone soon. Thanks for bearing with us.
..... for everyone who cries out for more pr .. you cannot beat this , when another party is spreading the
word and for something as significant as this ..
it would be nice if we can put that fancy logo on the unit , eh ?
i knew the 1st time that i saw her ... she has no appeal above my belt ..
and that family !!! if the lived in the lower 48 , it would be in a trailer park ...
for Emagin at the SHOT SHOW ..
check out aceofsp blog ... lots of articles .. mostly about our customers and their use of emagin displays and
a few directly about Emagin .. we were not set up there , but our customers certainly were ... garce
hit the new link on Acy's blog , about Google Glass is not dead .. interview with E. Schmidt ..
most of it's blah and blah .. but a key point not mentioned .. Adding Jerry G. to staff , he danced all around
the new specs coming , but sure sounds like it has to be OLED .. about the only way to greatly increase
battery life , is to use less of it(or make a big one .. lol )
Any have a clue as to who sponsored that focus group ?? was it Emagin's ?? or were they invited ? Have
to believe the rush for those 2 x 2 protos was for this event .. Google has promised big things at the
big gaming hoopla in June .. later .. garce
nano ... FA is failure analysis ... at this time , i would posit that group as being the key group ..
consider the primary factors for yield ...... materials / equipment / handling / process specs /
operators ... and also for new products ... design flaws ...
you can't fix yield issues , if you don't know what the cause is ...
ALSO .. there is a reliability factor that falls under the quality umbrella , but reliability is not the
same as quality ..
2 strange cases that i was around will point some of this out .
**** back in the late 70's Purdue chips were a new thing , made at EF and shipped to San Jose
for BAT ... yields went into the crapper and nobody had a clue why .. the chips were perfect
when shipped , then yields on the modules went to single digits almost overnight ..
What was discovered was that the circuits were so sensitive that operators , in San Jose,
when handling them , were blowing out the circuits , thanks to static electricity ... the
fix was for everyone to wear grounding bracelets and all work done standing on rubber mats.
**** a much trickier one came in the 90's when all of a sudden one of the products was getting
field fails ... really bad news ... that product was using new ceramic substrates .. this
was a cost effective move to make a cheaper substrate for an OEM customer , using
silver plated pins and braze material vs. the standard gold plated pins with an 80% gold
braze material ... what was eventually discovered was that when in use , the silver actually
migrated from one i/o pad to another and shorted everything out ... that one took some
redesign to be able to prevent the migration ...
what this points out , is that even after the yields get up to a decent level , there are some
things that will only show up after so many hours of usage (more of a reliability thing , but
far more damaging than in line yield issues )..
