it's also why , when ordering new equipment , much of the design is done after the machine is made , hence
a long start up phase ... Emagin did contact SNU midstream to give them some specifics to shorten the
time bringing the machine online after installation ..
that's why the good stuff is "trade secrets" ... at this stage of OLED , all the patents do is teach somebody
else , who can jigger something to avoid infringement .. main reason why AS and PC don't give out the
kind of info that we would like ... g
rise of the discount brokers .. now the average investor can by a single share or whatever amount,
for a flat commission .. so buy $1000 of IBM shares for less than 1% commish ... if anything ,
splitting shares probably means a nice tab paid to the accountants ... g
yeah , you are probably correct ...
NOW .. your problem will be the GREAT DRAINS family on this
board ... they have been touting the demise of VZ since the stock was
in the mid 20's . looks like they nailed it and you will tooooooooooo .. g
how about some meat on those posts , Kingy boy ... maybe a few facts and some sane analysis to support
your view ....
I know , it will never happen ... one of the downsides to the fabulous internet is that it gives forum to those
people who dwell in the cellars of society ...
*** In keeping with it's history , after reporting a weak period of time , 2 weeks later , IBM comes out with
a critical announcement ... those are not flashes in the pan , but the end game of years of R&D ...
It's not as though IBM has not seen the genesis of cloud computing and such , but they had a lot of
momentum with current products/services .. there's always a brief trough before the newer platforms
take hold ...
Okay .. so Amazon is making a mark with it's "cloud" service ... Amazon is strictly a consumer based
enterprise .. IBM has always eschewed consumer markets , opening up Watson machines for
enterprise cloud activity is going to be a boon ... just watch ... g
MCI was the shot over the bow ... ATT's biggest problem was not knowing how to run
a company like a business , after almost a century of having it all ...
were you old enough to read back in 1984 ???? ATT wanted to branch out beyond their one trick pony , the
caveat was to break up the company if that's what they wanted to do ... mgmt wrecked an American revolution ..
ATT could have continued to exist as a regulated monopoly forever , it they wanted to ... they felt that
Bell Labs would conquer the world with new technologies ... it didn't work ... garce
what's your take on GE .. i've been buying over the past 6 months with plans to add more .. i'm a buyer under
30 , i think that they have finally purged the ghost of JW and are doing the right things ... as global economies
improve , GE should be in a terrific position ... thanks ... garce
New Jersey has enlisted the assistance of gamblers to use the new internet gambling sites to work out
kinks before going ahead full bore ..
Maybe NJ should be in charge of Obamacare rollout ??? i mean who ever heard of trying out something
new in a practice session before going mainstream ?
hey, hey, hey ... John Akers was always considered to be "a wild duck" ... he didn't fare too
well and neither did the company , but i always though that he was just a back holder , as
Mr. Opel and his cadre knew that the cow had been milked dry , even though they could
see the future at IBM , they knew it wouldn't run by them , but that the young turks and
turkettes were on their way ... g
Wix ... no effect , thank you ... people laughed at me when I was about the 1st one
to sign up when IBM first announced a voluntary sign up period for "cash balance"
retirement plan ... 1st , that meant that my retirement money was MINE , no matter
what .. 2nd .. the future health account .. they started me with 19K , added 2500 per
year and grew the whole mess at 5% ... i still have about 1 1/2 yrs of coverage(MVP) .
after that i'm on my own til i can collect medicare ... garce
might be better off buying some bit coins ....
now , that's a bit of a stretch , but who knows at this point ???
as for gold ? i would stay away from it and also recommend others do the same ... with all of the efforts from
the Fed and the Treasury (QE's et al ) ... they have not been able to ignite inflation , we are still at the threshhold
IF the US (and world) is headed towards deflation , then the absolute last thing you want to own is gold ,
followed by silver , followed by all chattel property , then real estate , and then most stocks ...
IF deflation does take hold , then the absolute best thing to hold is CASH ...
If the US should go through 12 months of increasing deflation , then look for gold to be around 400/ oz or even
As i said in the first line bitcoins ( or some other form of digital currency ) , might be a good tonic down stream ..
thanks ... garce
They are simply a big machine that tries to make the most money off the least expensive products
I guess that's the American way ... capitalism at it's best .
PS , Phil , in case you hadn't noticed , HD , without ever saying so , is the Dollar General of
hardware ... everyone knows that ... MOREOVER .. they fill a need for the majority of US workers ..
