that seems to be the way .. a few years ago , the buying was 1 week before , now it's 2-3 weeks , then
some selling , then the anxiety ...
you got that right .. regardless of what conditions come about , that the media will tout as being the demise
of a company or the end of a great run , if you can trust a capable mgmt team , that's good because
good management can navigate those pitfalls that will always show up .. you might get some slack
time , where the company trades in a range , but then VZ (and others) pay their rent and you can bulk
up more shares for the next run ..
i understand your thesis , and yes i can well remember the
days of Ma Bell .. that being said , VZ is still a much better
proxy for a bond than ATT or many others ... however , that
very technology is what fuel future growth ..
just like with oil .. cheaper prices can mean more volume
sales and more rev /earnings , but could also destroy
the sector .. only time will tell and one thing for certain is
that only the strongest will come the other end ..
Still , at this juncture , there has been enough pain yet , for
the retail guys to understand which companies are solid and
which ones simply look that way ...
patience ... i still don't think that anything oil or gas related is
going anywhere buy sideways for the rest of 2015 ..
I will wait for Godot , if he comes , i will welcome him in ,
if not ,i'll just go to bed early .. .garce
i don't ATT , but as far as VZ is concerned .. mgmt has proven over and over
that they are very competent ... which means that they will find a way to
keep increasing earnings , in the face of slimmer margins .. that's what management
is all about .. using assets to navigate through such times ...
MGMT just needs to know what lies ahead , so that they can adjust .. same
with the whole net neutrality thing .. doesn't matter so much that we have it or
not , as long as mgmt has a clear vision of which fork in the road to take .. garce
Basically that's what the oil/gas companies are going through now and the
successful ones will be those who exercised disciplines through the boom
price times ... and KMI has demonstrated their abilities very well , which is
why they are on my radar .. i'm in the camp that believes that oil will stay
under 75 for some time to come(maybe 2 yrs) and that also , we could see
prices under 40, though that will be a blip and small bargain window .. garce
i wouldn't take that bet ... for the younger generations , being "connected" is far more important
than gas prices .. they are not likely own cars, but will continue to buy and use more devices ..
the times , they have been a changin' !!!!
VZ is a much better bet ... the div is a bit lower , but there's lots of growth ahead , including bigger div
increases , as they wear down their debt ... garce
i certainly cannot blame anyone for having developed the "Ahab syndrome" , but we continue to sail and
we'll find our white ...
i agree that a 5 or 6 price will give a lot of confidence that there are long legs with Eman ...
this is what we get for speculating ... forget Oculus , the voyage of the SS EMA has not been easy
on any stomach ...
Palcohol is here ... we won't have to lade 2 tons of grog at the next port , just a little bit of this powder will
keep the crew on an even keel
check it out , Lipsmark received approval for the stuff ...
sell a few shares and buy some VZ .. it is best to have a few stocks in different
sectors . you don't have to wild , but i wouldn't let any one stock get beyond 30%
of my portfolio ..garce
we have to wait for the CC and guidance on the IHMD , but even more than that , i would sure
like to that "very recognizable name " that we sent those 2 x2 's to
For now , i'm thinking that the 2 x 2's are a milestone ... we've shipped the protos to a customer , i
assume that product will be a single lens wearable and the IHMD will be 2 screens of 2 x 2 's ,
then there is Esight , using something else .. THAT will be nice to hear about a contract to them .. g
that's a pretty nasty post .. and you wonder why you get so much grief on this
why would you come on a message board and be so antagonistic to the other
posters , then wonder why nobody takes you seriously ...
Step it up a bit boardie ... you are almost to the amatuer level
I fully agree .. 5 years down the road , we'll look back at this time frame and realize that very little
damage has been done yet ... the longer oil stays low , the more damage done to companies balance
sheets .. bk's coming and , of course , a lot more M&A ..
I have long wanted to get into a couple of oil/gas companies , but i'm not even nibbling yet .. i expect
sometime in the fall to begin tho' ... garce
Many Alaskan christians can see Russia , while they are looking at it , their christianity is drained into
the Bering Sea , then they are free ...
