i would GUESS that it's a raw material thing .. in the early stages of development , it's just come
up with a repeatable , documented process ... materials used are the ones that are most forgiving and
they are usually not good for functional improvments ..
next stage is making products robust and to start to concentrate on costs ...
i have to guess that materials used on early xl's are not the same used today and for whatever
reason , the company decided the return was not great enough to tinker with those , plus the
fact , that whoever the customer(s) are /were , were satisfied with those chips for the app at
during development different materials are tried , one might yield a very fast refresh rate , but
has some other limited quality and of course , all variables are there .. you have to develop one
aspect for another ..
harken back to my IBM days ... in the early 80's IBM came out with a blockbuster package design ..
each module had about an ounce of gold in it , and systems were using between 6 -21
modules each ..a few years later , there was about 5 grams of gold in each module and
fewer were needed to build a system ...
gold was very very forgiving to the processes , but they were able to almost eliminate it ...
takes time , and yes many mistakes ... garce
the older i get , the more confused it get ..
so many of these guys regarding RK as an icon , yet the don't like the consolidation ..
wasn't RK the one who wanted to do that ???
Seems to me that if one regards RK as a top flight entrepeneur AND CEO , then one
should also support his decision to merge .
ELP's have been hot and many terrific over the past 10-20 years .. these things all run
their cycles and are not always the best way to go in all seasons ..
From the large amount of negativity towards the move , i do believe that individuals will
be taking a hit , in the short term , but if the move is good or great for the company then it
will be so for investors ..
one reason people buy into a good div payer , is to run through these kind of things
and come out head .. yer buyin' cheaper shares with the div and will have more shares
to gain when things get going again .
turmoil in the gas / oil sectors is going to continue for some time , so we'll keep seeing
great companies go on sale , there will be some others that continue higher until their
houses of cards tumble .. been there before and so have the big investors ... garce
i'm still in favor for long term investment to buy pipes , then drillers , then refiners ,
then integrated .. i'll just be sticking with the pipes . .they are the auctioneers ...
as long as stuff moves , they make money without a lot of exposure to price of products . g
time factor .. they had to hurry up on the demo .. those 2 x 2's were brand new late last
year and built to military specs , so no blue ,
bear in mind , Dan wasn't at the shows to demo to users , but to technical guys from
companies who will market the hmd's ... that's all they needed to assess the OLED
advantage and also the form factor for the ihmd ...
another thing that Dan knew (as well as everyone else) .. that "full capability" requires
specific software in a powerful machine ... the key stuff was demonstrated ... field of
view , contrast , brightness are the big concerns ... along with price , of course and
what boxes are needed to run the stuff ...
what is needed now , is some quantity of units , with the blues and deliver them to
keep in mind , that some apps do not require oleds , at least not at this point .
i don't see any mega deals for any company at this point , by this time next
year it will be a vastly different story ...
that all depends on how a partnership would be negotiated .. short answer is
yes and no ....
i would imagine that IF a partnership comes about with Google , that some
products would be exclusive and others , like for military use, would not ,
Rock , why couldn't such a partnership be structured with capital swap for common stock ,
the shares to be in form of a new issues(which we are already authorized for ) that
are restricted , such that they cannot be sold for 2 or 3 years ? or with preferred shares ?
i would also think that a bond issue could be done ..
we have to bear in mind, that some company looking for Emagin would want to buy
the whole thing ,
no payout ... GE shareholders will be given the opp to swap GE for SYF shares .. GE will use
proceeds to pay down debt .. the very action of swapping the shares will reduce shares outstanding
without buybacks ..
no payout , no dilution , reduction of shares outstanding will be effective as a buyback ...
once , a venerable outfit for everything financial , Baron's seems to have evolved into the cess pool of
shameless , soulless financial media ..
today's article on GE capital possibly being a poor move , mostly because there could be a market or
banking downdraft and planned prices will not be realilzed ..
GE is getting rid of GE capital at near light speed , most will be done by end of 2015 .. so what's this
guy's point ?? other than to rabble rouse ??? garce
actually the reason for no capital injection is the choice of the company .. there are means of
acquiring capital without dilution .. at this juncture , Emagin doesn't need capital .. if they
need to new equipment , they can handle that also .. however , with expectations of explosive
growth in ar / vr / hmd's will require lots of capital to grow quickly ..
if a partnership does come about , it won't depend on currently earnings , revs or such , but future
revenue streams ..
if a partnership comes about , the value will not be from current statues , but future streams and
the stock price will get bid up rapidly ...
the apple watch is expected to gen billions , fitbit goes public and the stock shoots to the moon , for devices
that very few people will wear and use consistently .. while the whole ar / vr / hmd sector is spinning wheels ..
if the damned watches and fitbit stuff is worth some , how about companies involved with hmd's ???
once the public gets their hands on a lightweight hmd , those watches are going to stay in the drawer ...
sorry for the rant , but i got wound up with insurance company & bank ... talk about rotten service .. my
agent is a gem , but the local offices are suffering greatly from the home offices ...
so any post that doesn't bash the company is a pump ???
just about every one of your posts contains something about pumping ..
try leavin' yer manhood alone fer a few days ... you got pumping on the mind ..
i just get a bang out of taunting you ...
jack ... do a little DD ..
they were not doing demos for consumers or game players , but for companies engaged in ar / vr , in other
words, professionals ..
they were showing the hardware form and the advantages to OLED ..
the 2 x 2 chips were made for a military application , for the most part blue pixels were to be absent BY DESIGN.
but can easily be added, no science required ...
this has been written about
follow acy's blog and you can pick up a lot of this stuff ...
brightness , contrast , refresh rates are what the hmd companies are looking for , they know that Emgan
can throw in the blues when some quid is coughed up .. .
you can thank the BOD for that ... SP was just another salesman and very wrong for the position.. they should
have followed Lou with another in kind .. .g
Right on speedy ... the dam of humanity is breaking !!!!!
California ready to pay for transgender ops / meds / hormones and whatever ...
New York supporting Hassidic religion
Just wait until insurance companies get hit with the bills for many other transgender ops , there's a flood
coming , post Jenner fiasco ...
White girl "feels black" worms her way in head of NAACP chapter
makes me think , that civilization , as we knew it , has past and is probably in a final death throe .. garce
