could that be closing out shorts positions before end of Q3 ? there didn't seem to be
any news to drive the volume , short covering would explain the nice 1 day up move ..
can you be a little more specific ? the debt is no problem .. cash is coming by the truckload and
the amount to service the debt is historically low .. the business is great .. people are only going
talk/text more and more and demand access to internet and video entertainment continues to
grow exponentially .. outdated technology ?? maybe so , but VZ is still leagues ahead of
anyone else ... g
here ... i understand that options exipiration days can lead to unusual price swings and volume , but
VZ had a monster volume day on friday , along with a decent pps rise ... that's more than just
options expiring ... any ideas ? ... garce
as far back as history is recorded , humans relish the opportunity to observe violence .. from
Roman gladiators to people who watch car racing for the crashes , or #$%$ fighting , dog fighting ,
ultimate fighting , boxing and the list goes on ... of course people will continue to throw
billions at the NFL ... games , food , shirts and the rest ... it's human na\ture, which , by the way ,
is impossible to legislate .. the best we can hope for is to identify guilty parties and separate them
from the general populations ... g
thank you ... all of the media coverage for years now , has been about women as victims and men are demons .... how about some culpability from women ... Rice clocked
his fiance , who then married him ... i have wonder how many "decent " men , she
has rejected to chase after her antogonist .. this story is played out time and again ..
at what point , can a man be justified in some sort of retaliation for actions that
would never be tolerated in any other situation ? there is no justification for Rice
and others to take the tact that Ray did , but just how much #$%$ are men supposed to
Campus rape gets a lot of press and now it's reported that college men are avoiding
sexual contact for fear that a conjugal meeting will turn to rape the next morning .
while coeds will continue to prance around like pole dancers ...
seems like OLED / VR / AR getting a lot press lately , while Emagin continues to lurk in the murky depths ...
the ides of Spt , have passed with no contract announcements ... frustrating for certain ... the good stuff
is always tough ... g
YUP .. and now , the action of selling towers seems to be a good revenue generator , as evidenced
by T recently , tho' the deals need to be carefully crafted ... g
If there is any real dynamism down the line , it will be for VZ to breakout the wireline division , as
a separate entity or wholly/mostly own subsidiary ... such a move could unlock some decent
value ... g
it's all from no-nothings ... expecting pr's and headlines to move the price , in the manner of a small cap
tech company ...
for the long term investor , VZ is one of the absolute best ....
most retail investors (who habit these boards ) seem to be wannabe stock experts and are actually
novice traders and are motivated by the "juice" ... it's like these guys who like to say that they
are shorting VZ .. aside from large investors , who will short , in lieu of options , as insurance , anyone
who would short a stock like this , needs some cranial examination ....
If VZ was not a good investment , then you wouldn't see such a high ownership by institutions ..
it's a good , steady plodder ... every once i a while it will have a large move , either up or down , then
trade a range .. trying to time the larger moves is a fools game ...
I would say the same about T , however , the astute investor will do DD and choose one over the other ,
but most likely owns a lot of one and some of the other ... garce
bill , by your own words , you have often intimated that
you have "inside info" .... you need to learn to talk from
only 1 side of your mouth ... otherwise , you take a big
credibility hit ... especially on board with some very astute
members ... g
ps .. it seems like you are unwilling to learn , or change your
view ,or even give any credence to other posters .... i don't
always agree with what other crew members say , but
i respect their points of view , as they have not come lightly ,
but rather from deep DD or deep experience .. garce
i concur ... the RS was the death knell for me ... was building a position , then bolted ... i'd rather watch
and learn on a stock like this ... saw the same thing with MCP ... these things don't die quickly and the
shorts enjoy the ride , when they are ready , they can take the stock to buck .... then they really have
fun .... the prices usually moves around a lot and they are in and out constantly ... i learned a long
time ago that these guys are not stupid .. short a stock at 50 cents , cover at 40 cent ... even
shorting at a dime and cover at 8 cents ... g
nobody has doubted that ... LCOS will be a money maker , but
eventually , OLED will be the displays of choice , it's still
going be a few years before you hear water cooler chat about
the latest and greatest , have to have devices ... g
touche ... OLED technology is still struggling for traction ,
regardless of whatever company / products are looked at ....
As with any other new technology , there is a huge market and
many players , as it grows , then some go bust , others
succeed , then consolidation ... the next 20 years will be
quite interesting .... we are not fishing in a small pond , but
the collective oceans ... garce
maybe they will get out there and nail some nice bronze backs , it's the season and the browns will
be in the shallows ...
volatility has returned , at least for Emagin .. we're bouncing all over the place ...
second certainty is the NY Giants will embarass themselves again on Sunday ... g
If Google buys out that division you'll be holding the rest of the company.
Great thought Don ... one big problem with investing in the small
companies is that if and when they get bought out , you will be holding
a small part of a large company that you did not have interest in ..
of course , there are some b/o's of small companies that pay
handsomely at the get go , which is , apparently , the tact that
our Captain favors , having mentioned "offers have been made" , but
nothing to fit the plans ... g
At this juncture , i see Emagin as being able to make to make as
a stand alone , or be able lever a very good price for a b/o ...
One advantage of the SNUP , that we do not often discuss ,
is that it 1) allows engineers to use Satella full time 2) can speed
up the later stages of development projects ... g
seems like microcaps are having a hard time these days ... gobs of money being thrown at ipo's and
large caps ... i follow a few micros and they all seem to be on the same track
sure , trading for pennies ... no real trader trades a stock that has small price movements and
a wad of dividends to cover(for the shorts) ... the big trading $$$'s are in the smaller companies that
have large price swings .... as for shorting ... the pros look for issues that have substantial
downward potential ... not huge utility companies ...
