because that's a tried and true method for IBM ... remember back in the day , when everyone would
agree that IBM was the premier tech outfit ??? they used to put embryonic boxes out and make
billions , while the continued to improve them over 4-5 years before going to the next platform ..

most companies , to date , have used the label "cloud" , because it's the next big thing in tech , but what they
think they have is just smoke ... Can you remember 10 years ago ??? when IBM talked about the cloud and
nobody else did ???? The "cloud" is nothing new to IBM .... and it's going to deliver big time ...
mid 80's when IBM decided to make it's own computer ???? i will assume that you meant PC .. okay , IBM
wasn't first in , in fact , there was always resistance to the PC , as it was seen , at that time , as a consumer
product, which IBM avoids like a leper colony .... the IBM PC became a necessary "cost of doing business" .
Corporations that wanted everyone to be linked , demanded a PC offering , or they would take their
Mainframe business elsewhere , so IBM started making PC's and they were pricey , probably to
discourage consumers , but it didn't work .
Then there was the PC division .. never planned to make money .. it was run like a cost center .. all known ,
all planned and once servers started to take off , a market that IBM wanted , they threw down the pc's and
    made billions on servers ..
If you haven't learned by now , that IBM is not;a ship of fools , but some of the sharpest folks on the
planet, then i suggest you look for another hobby ... garce
    UP 3.65% today !!!!!!!!!!!!!

IBM is horrible .... LOLOLOL .. when's the last time anyone saw a mega cap jump almost 4% in 1 day ???
This market has belonged to the large caps for a few years and has a way to go .... g

more what it is , is that when one party sees the handwriting that they won't win the next election ,
they pull a few levers and bring about some malaise sooner than if that party continued to hold
    the WH ....
every administration has dirt under the carpet , as long as they have the power , they can keep
it there ... every new administration leaves something for the next guy to deal with .. g
Carter certainly had his share of #$%$ dumped on him ... the US has never gotten the switch
from guns to butter right and Carter had to deal with the aftermath of VietNam and the
attendant inflation that was raging .. .g

i will say this .. if the price can get through that resistance , then it will be off to the races .... it's a wait and
see ... sure seems like 190 is solid resistance ... maybe with the flights from 3d print , cloud , and biopharma
will shovel some coal on the fire ???

read some of the posts to this board ... a lot of sour grapes that there is not a consumer
product yet , nor large military contracts .. i try to keep the waters calm , by explaining
that this is still a development outfit ... there isn't anyone else out there will anything
great in OLED ... Sony and Samsung have been promising OLED tv's for a few
years now , they have a couple out there , but big price tags and also criticism of
over saturated colors , too much blue , etc ......
then there are the guys who slam mgmt for machine failures , pad bonding problems , etc.
so far , Emagin is in a very good track and has been experiencing normal growing
pains for a development company .. just wanted to point out that the other outfits are
not burning up the pavement either .. it's a slow , grinding race .... that being said,
there are very few things out there that will change the entire face of an industry than
OLED will .... the prizes will be huge and well worth the efforts .....
Oculus Rift has been identified as a competitive technology , i doubt it though ...
it still uses LED , which is approaching it's zenith .. for a while the best LED's will
be preferred over Oled offerings , but LED is pulling into the station .. OLED hasn't
    left yet ... .garce

  • iamgarce by iamgarce Mar 24, 2014 2:56 PM Flag

just caught an interview on BBR ....
the interviewee( who has been trying out VR headsets using Oculus Rift) ... said that "the world has been
waiting a long time for this " .. .and Oculus is still in the business of selling it's goods to development
companies ... this technology is not moving very fast either ....

What is going on with BMY and drug sector?

    by aint_livin_off_me Mar 24, 2014 10:10 AM

lotta news on this one ... basically , the shot over bow was the govt questioning Gilead's pricing of new
Hepatitis drug .... the insts are probably sensing an in depth study of pharma's pricing that could
    affect all the bios ...
    there's a lot of unrest with Gilead's pricing .. 80K per treatement ,, BMY's Yervoy is around 90K !!!!!
if regulation should come about to curb pharma pricing of new drugs , it will be a real drag for the
companies , unless the same regulations give them more writedowns on development .
if not , then watch for the pharma's stop bothering to develop new and better drugs .. they cannot
afford to keep throwing billions at development without being able to recoup those costs ....
especially in this time frame of former/current blockbusters going generic ...
this is not a good if it becomes a trend ..
(who knows ?? maybe somebody has it in for Gilead ) . g

i agree about a favorable pr on the bonding matter will add to the price ... 50 cents not out of the question .
it would have been nice to at least get some info on how parts were supposed to ship that won't .. maybe
the Q1 impact from this is not too large , however , if not fixed soon , it will be a bugaboo ...
it appears that the bonding problem is limited to a single part number and if there is something about that
design that does not allow to build a robust pad , that it's back to the drawing board ...
there is so much that we do not know , that it's impossible to gauge the size of the problem ...
I have to believe that the problem has been bounded , but the fix might be tricky ..
another guess , is that the company will not release a pr on the matter until new parts have been built
and sent to the customer to assess that a fix is in , though there could be in house testing to
prove same , but most likely the customers will want to receive a few post fix parts to verify
that the can resume fillng the contracts ... g

precisely why net nuetrality is bogus ... pricing schemes need to be structured to buy
what you need/want .. .seems like everyone wants the cable guys to unbundle ..
i , for one , don't need lightining fast downloads and would be content to pay far less
    for IS ..
