great ,i just love to know what your trades are ... how about a little analysis ... every time IBM has a "massive layoff" and attendant charges , it comes out of another chute and roars ...
anyone , by now , who hasn't learned that the floods of pr's and analyst ratings are there to fire their
emotions and cloud investing judgement , should really find another past time ... garce
Vz had a nice run last year , unlikely to see gains like that again , however , VZ is still in a growth mode ,
prints cash , and is poised to begin hefty div increases ..
My advice is to set up a regular investment scheme and dollar cost average , instead of following daily
action , or looking for "dips" ..a regular investment scheme will flatten those prices out over time ..
of course , reinvest those divs ... i will posit that VZ could be over 90 within 3 years ... g
please tell us what to buy then ???
don't bother Harry .. i alread know that you just like to see your name on the internet .. that's important , not
the content or lack of ... just keep'em coming Harry ....
always glad to see the children take an interest in stock investing .... garce
yes , and you can expect Godot to arrive sometime ...
ps ... rates are only going to rise when the economy is booming ..
it's like oil was a few years ago ... that rise signalled strength in the economy , not a derailing feature ... g
sounds like you still do not realize that IBM is in transition .. takes a little while ....
back in the day .... Ford/GM/Chrysler used to idle their plant to retool for new models ..
biz didn't look good , usually in Q2 , then back to the races .... IBM has been gutting it's
hardware for 20 years and building new business models ... if you think that the execs
don't know where the money is , then buy a different stock , fact is those folks are a whole
lot sharper than any of us ..
part of investing is trust the leaders of a company , even when you don't have all of
the pertinent facts , that are never included in the pr's and sec driven reports ...
TRUST .. if it isn't there , then keep walking , if you can trust , then show it with your
money ... g
pssst ... here's a nasty little secret ... in order for a company to grow large and make lots
of money , the preferred method is one honed in Medieval times .... estate lords have
been replace by ceo's and exec teams ... no changes for the serfs ... it's a proven
model ... companies now realize that labor is a commodity and price can be bid down ..
study a bit of history and see how behemouth companies were built , like Standard Oil ,
US Steel and many others , then find out what working conditions were like and easily
a person could get fired and replaced , virtually no concern for employees , there wasn't
even a concern for safety , yet those companies grew larger than life ..
also , with a bottomless labor market , full of starving individuals who will work for
very little , there is no incentive to coddle current employees ..
i don't like that any more than anyone else ,but i also believe that a person should
go through life with their head stuck somewhere ...
HOW TO STAND A CHANCE TO SUCCEED ..
1) face the facts
2) buy a can of paint and a 4 inch brush
3) find a wall
4) write 4 words on the wall ..
LIFE IS NOT FAIR ... start with that premise and you have a chance ,otherwise , you
will just cry in your cups until they overflow ..... g
good move for GE , even if the division performs well , there is too much negative sentiment to budge GE price ...
now , how will the spinoff fare ?? I believe that it will do quite , but will be hostage to short term economic
dynamics ... the strategy of 20% this year the rest in 2015 will go a long way to establishing true price
of the spinoff ....
My opinion on the spinoff isn't so hot , as shareholders receive nothing .. IBM does the same thing , whatever
it spins off or sells , goes into corporate coffers , i would rather receive stock in the new company without
having to swap my GE shares ...
once free of the unit , GE will do quite well and should be considered to be a secular growth company ... g
btw .. i agree , that it would be great if the politico's would go to an appropriate forum .. garce
We have stopped production on the Z800 until it is updated from analog to digital with increased resolution. that should be easy / quick enough .... let's hope other upgrades will be coming
and we'll have an item that actually marketable .. .g
when she pulls them to far , her balls get pinched ... maybe she needs to buy a polka dot dress , eh ?
jonas ... good point , except that sometimes , one feels compelled to counter these
clowns , such that other who might read the board , in consideration of plunking
down some quid , have an alert ...
after that , sometimes i just get in mood and throwing a few darts is cathartic ...
guess it' time for a little scotch ... g
Apple , you are not disillusioned , since Emagin is still a development problem , what you are experiencing
are growing pains (thankfully, you should not get an acne breakout) ...
looks like you guys have lots of work to do , and probably not on this board ... seems like there's more
buyers than reside on the board .. .
Eman outpaced the entire DOW today and that's following bad news ... what say you ?
guess you guys don't like to post on up days , eh ??? or holding onto your shorts for a bk ?
buyers and sellers will affect the price ..that's pretty much it .. it's all about how investors(mostly the insts)
view the data and how the regard the company (growth ? value ? dividend?) ...
A lot of print is wasted on the housing recovery and what it means for HD ... basically nothing .. that story is
just a red herring ..
HD is NOT in the business of home building , nor supplying builders , at least not the big outfits that make
the market .. they contract from the western mills for huge lumber purchases , same for concrete and
HD's fortunes are with
1) building maintenance
4) general fixup
what that means , is that at least a decent economy is needed , such that people have money for
home repairs , additions , remodelling and such .... especially for those projects that customers will
avail Home Services for ... roofing , siding , windows , doors , flooring , appliances .... garce
