I don't see how the stock would go above $8, being that we'll receive $8 on May 8th for every share that we own and then the shares are canceled.

I don't understand why so many shares traded hands today, unless the funds bailed and there were shorts that needed to cover ?

I can't understand why the SP remained below $7.85 for so long, even after they announced they would
issue a final dividend of 11.25 cents per share.

It was almost a sure thing return for a short time hold.

I bought another 14,000 shares as recently as 4-8-15 at $7.82.

With the difference between my purchase price and the buyout at $8, plus the dividend of 11.25 cents, I'm making an additional $4092 on just those additional 14,000 shares.

That's almost a 3.74% return for owning those shares for only one month !

I wish I could find more deals like that !

    Ka-ching !

Are you sure that people are still "buying" options ?
Maybe some people are trying to sell options, but I don't know why anyone would buy them.
After May 8th, TLM shares will worth ZERO and the SH's will get $8 cash for every share they owned.

    Thanks for posting this, Jordie.
I don't know why starteam003 posted the same question after you posted this info, as your info seems to point to the answer that he/she was supposedly seeking.

Where did you see that report ?
I guess that may be why the volume is only at 8,694 right now ?

I sold all of the BYDDF that I had in my taxable account in December.
I was going to sell all of the BYDDF shares in my IRA today, but the bid is for less shares than I was going to sell, and the volume is only 8,694 so far.
It doesn't look like there is very much interest in this stock, especially today..

BYD Plans to Double Energy-Storage Station Sales in 2015

BYD Co., the Chinese car maker partially owned by Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Inc., said it expects to double deliveries of energy-storage products this year amid rising global demand.

BYD delivered energy-storage units last year with a capacity to store 57 megawatt hours -- enough to power industrial parks -- according to an e-mailed statement. Besides domestic sales, BYD exports storage units to markets including the U.S., Germany, Japan and Australia, the company said.

Ranging in size from residential units to stations for industrial use, companies like BYD are developing storage products to solve a key problem with electricity distribution: meeting demand that fluctuates throughout the day with a relatively fixed supply. These devices also help ensure a continuous supply from renewable energy sources such as solar and wind, whose output can’t be controlled.

“Like other companies doing business in the sector, BYD is still in an early exploratory stage and still has a long way to go,” said Harry Chen, an analyst at Guotai Junan Securities Co. in Shenzhen, China. “It’s unclear how this business will contribute to BYD’s overall profitability.”

BYD fell as much as 2.7 percent before trading 2.1 percent lower at 60.05 yuan as of 10:58 a.m. in Shenzhen. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index gained 1.4 percent.

Tesla Motor Inc.’s shares rose after Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk’s Twitter posting led to speculation that the company will unveil stationary storage batteries for residential customers on April 30. SolarCity Corp., where Musk is chairman, has installed Tesla batteries at 13 Wal-Mart Stores Inc. outlets in California.

BYD completed a ferrous-battery energy storage station in Shenzhen last year, with enough capacity to allow an industrial park to manage and adjust its power needs.

BYD is taking on Tesla in battery business?

    by starteam003 Mar 14, 2015 10:16 AM

BYD is far ahead in battery technology? That's what we have been led to believe for years.
If BYD has technology and a cost factor that is superior to other companies, I would assume that another company would buy out the battery division or technology and patents from BYD.
Maybe we should write to Elon Musk and ask why he doesn't make a bid for BYD, or to Warren Buffet to make a bid for Tesla and their battery business ?

You're correct, they have had a problem with their business model for years !
I bought shares of BYD for my taxable account on 09/13/2011 and I gave up and sold the shares on 12/31/2014.
Although I still own the shares in my IRA that I bought in Feb. 2011 and July 2012, I could have made plenty by trading in and out of it instead of holding !
The SP has been above $8 during the time I have owned it, and I saw the SP plummet due to the problem they have with concentrating on a few of too many businesses or products that they have.
It's like the saying, "A Jack of All Trades and a Master of None" !
Most people probably don't even remember some of the products or businesses that they have hyped over the years.
I remember an energy storage module that they were supposed to market to businesses and eventually homes.
It was a cabinet or container that had batteries and inverters or converters in it.
It would be set up and connected to the power panel of the company or residential compound so that solar energy could be stored during the day for use at night, AND/OR it would recharge off of the power grid during the lower rates during the off-peak demand hours, to be used during regular business hours when peak demand and higher power rates were in affect.
What happened to that product, because I never hear about it anymore?
They have too many things going on and don't seem to be managing and developing most of them for success and profits !

  • Since there hasn't been any activity here and the price of MTLQU has dropped near historic lows, I assume that it has no value.
I finally sold all of my GM realted shares, options and MTLQU this week in only my taxable account.
I still hold them all in my IRA, but I wonder if I should dump MTLQU ?

Maybe the wind will give me an opinion ?

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

  • I have waited way to long, and why hang on longer with the hope that car sales will ramp up even more than it has ?

I wonder how that will fit into their business model? WIll it enhance their income ?

  • I haven't found a reason yet, although it has gone up too high and too fast in the past 4 to 6 weeks.

Maybe it's a bit of a correction being that the SP was only $6.68 on Jan. 28th.

    Anyone here have FTR service?

    by jimcalp88 Feb 24, 2015 2:36 PM

They are going to buy the territory my service is in from VZ.
VZ is doing exactly what the FCC said they wouldn't let the big tel-co's to do - Cherry Picking the areas they want to keep !
FYI, I had VZ repair out 4 times since mid December due to grounding on my dial-tone and DSL line.
    4 Times !
They refused to expedite the trouble tickets on the 2nd. 3rd and 4th repairs.
They do this on purpose, because in So. Cal., a trouble that is caused by moisture will probably be gone when they finally show up 3 days after the rain created the problem!
They are letting their old copper facilities and plant fall apart so people like me might move services onto their more expensive FIOS services.
They're betting that you'll move to the higher priced services in an effort to get reliable service and faster data speeds.

I know, I worked for General Telephone, GTE, Verizon for 30 years.
I didn't do chitty work like these guys when I was outside, although in 1997, when I transferred into the Camarillo yard, the management wanted you to get in and get out as quickly as possible.
They wanted us to cut the time we spent on our orders and repairs.
They didn't really care that much about good service!
Now it's even worse then it was back then ! !

I retired in 2006 at the age of 49.
I couldn't stand working for a company that was providing less service, and had so many lazy, incompetent flakes in management!

Have you tried filing a complaint with the PUC?

    Sentiment: Strong Buy
