The Yale question. I did a quick search and: "denny_kehoe" on June 7, 2014 stated his roommate and best friend both attended Yale. He also stated his roommate is in line to become Secretary of the Treasury in the future while stating he "denny....." comes from "old money".
Have not heard much from the U.N. in some time regarding actual action on the United Nation's part regarding ISIS, or for that matter any major world conflicts. Perhaps they can aid the Red Cross . But as far as insuring world peace......as useful as teats on a boar. Perhaps it is the blue helmets.............
I read a tremendous amount of Mark Twain's works back in the late 70s. His best works were early and middle on during his life span. Imo, he got a bit less pleasant (a bit bitter) and less inspiring in older age, but don't a lot of us? I have a poster of him in my billiards room. He is standing in white suit, in later age, behind his table. Imo, the best American author of all time.
You stated earlier this year, on this FX board, that you attended Yale at some time in you life. . 1. Did you graduate from Yale? 2. Was "W" as in Bush there when you attended? Skip the equity question I previously asked, if that is your want. Well? Iggy.....................
I was there in 1976 traveling about on my EuRail Pass for a few months. One of America's favorite authors "Washington Irving" hung out there in the 1800s. I visited the Gypsy caves there as well, but did not hang late enough to see the gypsy (Senoritas) do the dance thing. Yes, the Alhambra is one of the most beautiful and ornate palaces in the world.
Hmmm, translate "And nothing to do with numbers?" Perhaps a redo of 7th grade grammar will be of help to you in future communication efforts. By the way, do you have any equity recommendations for this Yahoo finance board? Heh. .
October comes in 2nd over time. Sept. averages about -1% on the DOW and S and P.. Worst for Sept was 1931 return of -30%. Next is 2009 of -8% for the month of Sept. I got curious as to how the mo. of Sept. got its name. It would seem it comes from the Latin word "septem" which translates to "seven". Well this did not seem to make sense, until research revealed the Romans had a 10 mo. calendar for a time. With March being the first mo. as it was the first month of the "growing season" for agriculture in Italy, with the 2 missing mo. of the winter not counted until later Romans established the 12 mo. calendar which added Jan. and Feb.
I was a late comer to the Heebner party and I got burned. I suppose that is why I am skeptical of his funds now, but really it was my decision. I later made the decision to take all the FX and RX money and put it in POAGX a few yr. ago. Best fund I have ever owned so far.............made mid to high 50% in calendar yr. 2013 with it. Also one of the most aggressive funds in portfolio. Regards, Iggy.
I wont accuse you of masochism, just loyalty for past performance from Heebner.
I invest both actively and passively. Index funds/ETFs are best suited for taxable accounts as there is little trading and their extremely low exp. ratios. are a performance advantage. I have one which has an exp. ratio of 1/20 of 1%, Just google search the performance of the S and P 500 vs. actively managed funds, or just read Morningstars comments.
The S and P 500 is used by Morningstar as a benchmark for CGMFX, and an abundance of other funds. As I have stated in the past, it has been downhill for FX ever since he started the hedge fund. That being said, the future cannot be predicted, but perhaps he will regain his hot performance of over a decade ago. Iggy.
As of Aug. 19, 2014, rounded to nearest whole #: Past 12 mo. FX 14% and S and P 23%. Past 3 yr FX 17% and S and P 23%. PAST 5 YR: FX 9% and S and P 17%. Past 10 yr. FX 9% and S and P 8%. Past 15 yr. FX 15% and S and P 5%. As for year to date: FX -1% and S and P +9%/
Juan, I hope I hope I am not being repetitive, but have you ever visited the Alhambra in Spain? Gorgeous palace built by the Moors when they controlled most of Spain. (until evicted via warfare from Spain during the time of Queen Isabella.
Very well could be.........seems to apply to the game of pool (billiards) at times in my experience. Iggy.
Schlumberger....the giant of oil service companies.........have owned it for some time......it has done well.............Barron's story projects possible 50% upside and it might be a good time to add a little. Guten nacht, Iggy.
Al Gore climate activist and Nobel Peace Price winner is suing Al Jazeera, owned by the royal (oil and more oil) family of Qatar. Mr. Gore, who sold his Current TV channel in a 500 million dollar deal, is upset as he claims in the suit Al Jazeera, yes the "more recent" channel, is holding back on the sum of 65 million dollars, which is in escrow. Main source: USA Today amongst several others. After all, a deal is a deal, heh.
Pretty good rant and well said. Now watch the other side call him an Uncle Tommmmm because he has his own opinion which he formed over time. I find Dr. Ben Carson a candidate who, if really who he appears to be, a UNiFIER for this country rather than the divider we have now.
Hmmmm, must be a video of this. I searched The Huffington Post to no avail. There was a similar story about this in late July. Where can I view or listen to this? Fox records video of other networks, so there must be one out there.
There is no comparison to ISIS and Americans of the past century. Without the US involved in WW2 the Brits and possibly North Americans would be ruled by the Reich. Imo, many cannot appreciate this country's good points until they have lived as alien visitors in other countries.
