Hey marine I can't wait to see how FB at work does I am hopeful but skeptical at the same time Linkedln is embedded already as the go to for all things work so I believe we have an uphill battle on our hands but who knows maybe they can pull it off.

  • Deutsche Bank gave its preview on Facebook Inc FB 0.42% Friday ahead of the company reporting earnings on January 28. The firm maintained a Buy rating and $90 price target.

Analyst Ross Sandler felt that the stock’s muted performance since March along with upwardly revised estimates could help Facebook’s shares move higher on its Q4 results.

Facebook’s “biggest driver” in 2015 will be video, according to Sandler, as the “company has been gearing up for video for years with several pit-stops,” and the firm’s “checks suggest this is the year where it finally hits in size.”

Sandler also thought that Q4 EPS will come in slightly above the consensus estimates of revenue at $3.78 billion with EPS of $0.48. Deutsche Bank currently estimates revenue below consensus at $3.741 billion with EPS of $0.49, $0.01 above consensus.

The firm’s $90 price target was based on a 40x P/E, 20x EBITDA and 2.5 percent FCF Yield, with a blended average of 2015 and 2016 estimates.

Sandler concluded that being a contrarian in the past on Facebook has worked well, but even with most of the consensus currently long, Sandler “remained firmly in the bull camp” on the stock.

pontiac I assume you are talking about the Societe sell rating that came out yesterday I was finally able to read the full note today it gave 3 very questionable reasons for the rating one was overblown mobile revenue from buy and hold analysts I laughed outloud on that one as you said some still just don't get it never will.

I hear you hopefully the guidance from last quarter was a necessary evil to set us up for a nice beat this quarter and some strong 2015 guidance on further monetization of Instagram and other revenue streams to more than offset the rise in expenses fingers crossed!

oh yeah there is going to be fierce competion I wonder how many other companies have been "secretly" working on these type of projects. As far as the two piece it was in an article from the street toady here is the quote
Stifel Nicolaus analyst Brad Reback isn't so sure. The analyst warned that HoloLens could also turn out to be another forgettable technological products like 3D TV or Kinnect. "It's a very interesting product," Reback told TheStreet in a phone conversation. However, he added that he wanted to see the final product's "hardware, firmware and battery life."

Microsoft shares were up nearly 2% to $46.74 in mid-morning trading in New York.

The device demonstrated Wednesday was a two-piece design - the headset and and a separate box called the "Holographic Processor Unit" which needs to be worn around your neck

hey slider just did a little quick research does seem pretty cool only thing is it's a two piece system you have to wear the glasses and also something else around your neck. My gut tells me there will be room for all these different devices another words people will gravitate toward certain gear depending on their preference much like we all like driving different types of cars.

marine when I first went long here in April of 14 after all my DD I came up with only one scenario that could keep FB from going much higher for the rest of decade and that was a decline in the overall market itself and almost a year later I still see that as the only obstacle.

  • - Pivotal Research analyst Brian Wieser reiterated a Buy rating on Facebook Inc (NASDAQ: FB), and raised the price target from $103.00 to $105.00.

Pivotal Research noted, “Facebook remains our favorite name in the sector.
Our YE2015 price target is $105, up from $103 previously.
Facebook can point to a wide range of factors which will sustain growth through 2015 and beyond, as increasing share of spending from small businesses and large brands alike as well as ongoing improvement in focus on performance-based marketers will all help to sustain rapid growth.
We continue to rate Facebook BUY.”

  • • Facebook at Work, first reported on by the FT in November, has been made available via app stores to select enterprise test partners. The platform looks a lot like standard Facebook (FB +0.4%) - it contains a news feed, messaging tools, and groups - and lets users log in with their regular Facebook accounts. But a user's professional data is completely split off from his/her personal data, and Facebook won't collect any of it.
    • Moreover, unlike LinkedIn (LNKD +0.1%), Facebook at Work is only focused (for now) on connecting with co-workers, thus arguably making it more of a rival to Jive Software (JIVE -0.3%), Salesforce's Chatter platform, and Microsoft's Yammer. LinkedIn and Jive both sold off following the November FT report.
    • With no ads being sold, corporate subscriptions are a potential revenue stream. Facebook can count on its giant, highly engaged user base to drive interest in Work. At the same time, it has to contend with corporate wariness towards Facebook, historically viewed by many of them as a productivity-killer.
    • Separately, Oppenheimer and Credit Suisse have respectively hiked their Facebook targets to $100 and $102. Oppenheimer expects a strong Q4 report on Jan. 28. "Checks suggest 4Q pricing +14% q/q and +21% y/y, with same-client spending +32% q/q and 33% y/y ... Organic reach is becoming more difficult, due to competition for newsfeed impressions, which is driving pricing ... We also see upside from increased video adoption."
    • Credit Suisse cites the potential of Facebook's mobile ad network, and argues "Street models are too conservative and underestimate the long-term monetization potential of upcoming new products."

bump marine whatsapp will hit 1 billion users in 2016 I figure that gives Zuck more that enough time to figure out an agressive monetization strategy like you said the rapid growth of both Instagram and Whatsapp have been nothing short of incredible that is step one if Zuck can complete step 2 proper monetization sky is the limit for FB stock.
