Intel decided to keep $1B when Lehman went bankrupt. Worstcase, they would have to return it.
it can't get any dumber than that

I have stopped clicking on the MF's links. That saved a lot of money and time.

The heat is on...
Looks like ARM camp is showing signs of cracks. AAPL, QCOM...AMD switched to ARM. If anything, that's clear confirmation that ARM days are numbered.
Ahhhh! That's music to ears for us, longs. Thanks for the info. I was worried if the short interest went down. This is good. Confirms the squeeze hasn't even started yet. With limited supply and none of tendering our shares, it will be fun to watch coming months.
Incremental upside, baby! No rush, we will exercise all the patience in the world.

Here is my theory. Jim tried for CEO position because he proved TV initiative is already proving to be so successful. But BOD declined to offer him CEO position so he decided to retire to prove his importance. But Intel felt that the bench is so strong and don't need him who thinks he single handedly delivered this.
You see, there are some people who think they are only ones in the company who deliver. Jim must be one based on my theory. They need to believe in team work, baby!
Almost a billion shares out from the float with the buybacks, there isn't much weak holdings left in the market to be tendered.

I know, I know...you are saying analysts and channel checks are very impressive, timely....and manipulative.
Are you still buying good old rear-view projection television or interested in buying LED tv? Sony, Samsung, LG didn't die because of that.
It's called transformation...Companies also transform just the way we do. Intel is doing the same. They didn't believe in tablets but Apple proved it. Now, the Giant has woken up. Enjoy the ride is what I say to you.

This is all rear-vier mirror analysis...Why do they talk about PCs....INTEL is beyond that
The downward roller coaster ride made all of us so paranoid that any bumps like this feel and look strange. The only question you have to ask yourself is if the stock being valued as appropriate given the sheer size of the company and its capabilities.

Yeah
...with earnings right around the corner and analysts being quite or sending false signals, it's clear confirmation that Intel will meet or beat the numbers and provide positive guidance going forward.
Quite period (before earnings) hasn't been quite like this in the recent quarters...
Finally, Intel seems to come back vengeance. Go Intel.
How pathetic they can get...Those analyst #$%$ have no life.
Looks like they have a bigger hole in their pockets now. I think their wallets slipped through the holes in their pockets.
Yeah, Intel just announced dividend. The message is loud and clear.
This rear view analysis is waste of time and stupid at best. Who doesn't know that desktop days are numbered. Honestly, how many desktops are you buying these days. Laptops are powerful and can carry the same tasks as a desktop machine plus provides mobility. So the transition is obvious.
The analysis should be more like how many people have shelved notebook buying plans and switched to mobile phones (which I think is 0%) or switched to tablet devices like ipads etc., ipads/android tablets is where Intel has been bleeding until end of last year losing 90+ business to ARM. But Intel has woke up to this call, the future will be bright for Intel in this space as well as they will be bring same power and performance to even mobile phones.
This game is not new to Intel. They were challenged like during notebook transition also. Google around for companies Transmeta etc., Where are they now?
ARM will have the same future? The answer depends...I will leave it at that argument will take a couple of pages...
