It appears that NVDA from certain sources known to Fudzilla, could not find HBM2 because of SK Hynix commitment to AMD. So, they called Samsung asking for help to get access to HBM2. Now, NVDA called Samsung asking for favors, and yet, NVDA is the very company that sued Samsung in their patent trolling efforts. NVDA better learn to think twice before they act like they are some type of graphics GOD that expects everyone to bow down to that midget of a CEO. Payback can be deep.
Sounds like a killer card, nothing should be about beat this beast!
I think the best way to look at Jim is that he's a *contract* CPU design architectural artist. He may be an odd bird in the industry, but is very highly respected. His work history is noted by many as someone who stays on, but only until he's finished and then appears to desire a new challenge for another project. I don't see what is so hard to grasp about this. Other do this as well. AMD haters can lie, as always, but this is the pattern of employment he prefers.
will have to wait for another source other than SK Hynix! This was just confirmed yet again today. "AMD secured PRIORITY access to SK Hynix's HBM2 chip output which left NVDA high and dry, AMD was expected to strive to capture as much of the initial production capacity as possible" states Fudzilla. NVDA will have to wait in line, as they should in ALL fairness. Since they have nothing to do with HBM as a co developer. Look for ZEN with HBM2, right along with AMD's GPUs next year!!!! Truth be known!
It's definitely complete! This is why Jim has left. Zen has already tape out, as AMD has said "samples were sent for tape out with nodes 14 and 16nm based on Zen"...
It's full speed ahead now that ZEN is completed. Jim, good luck in your future endeavors! Good post donttrust!
Barron's! It's under Yahoo headline news! Regains lost share in $200 and $400 price points from the proprietary NVDA! NVDA still dominates the high end according to MKM Partners....check it out!
NO one ever said it was a done deal. These sites always say "our insider sources" have heard this and that! People can take that information and see why it doesn't make sense OR why it would make sense. Naturally, the same AMD haters or negative writers who ALWAYS post doom and gloom about AMD are going to try and pound it down immediately, nothing surprising about that at all. It would seem when you hear MANY websites posting about mergers or buyouts regarding AMD, there would be some merit to it. I personally think there IS some interest out there to buy AMD, regardless of what these obvious bashers say. It's your call to make, no one knows. But, don't be surprised if it does happen!
But if it was the same analyst who said to SELL intel and NVDA, you would be here crying and whining about how they are incompetent, lying and that Citi are Wall Street crooks, right? And how your basher sock buddies are always correct, right laughing boy?
No BK! There is WAY to much interest from other tech companies and investors-investors with a lot of cash, NOT to mention the current deals AMD is already in with some of these tech leaders. Most people are watching AMD like a Hawk right now, something IS going down! I think AMD is in for new change going forward, you can just feel it with all this going on.
Most people who really appreciate what AMD is and what they stand for, would rather see AMD go it alone. AMD will NOT offer more shares, as in a public offering to raise cash. Just shares currently on the market will be bought from whoever sells and with a long term return on that investment.
My take is this, if AMD is making deals with other companies, then it appears they really NEED the investments to complete their goals. Their cash burn rate has been..well..tremendous and not enough bank! And it seems they have tried everything to cut cost. It looks like AMD IS here to stay either way. No matter what the idiots on Wall Street say.
It's just a matter of time, the writing has been on the wall a long time now.
But, I still think MSFT is a better fit. Just looking at all possibilities.
I think its fair to say that MSFT has a great interest in AMD as successful company in the future. And there no reason to NOT think that XBOX2 will be a AMD APU!
On second thought, maybe intel MAY be able to buy AMD! The FTC may look at it differently this time. AMD, for the most part does not really compete with intel with CPU's these days. AMD is really a GPU company, but what about Zen? Maybe a round table discussion with AMD, intel and MSFT would be in order. The i3-i5 and i7 are based on AMD's IP. Maybe Something possible could be worked this time around. This is really getting interesting. Everything changes if MSFT wants to buy AMD. It seems AMD would want MSFT MUCH more as a partner than intel? Who knows, AMD's management is a lot different than the old days.
Intel cannot buy AMD, I honesty can't see this happening after what the EU did to intel. Crazy things do happen. As far as what chips MSFT would offer if there was buyout, that is a tough one to answer.
If MSFT buys AMD "It will control the development of the next generation console chips for it's future Xbox and would able to have descent GPUs to promote its Direct X and beyond. Of course Microsoft would have to compete with NVDA. When it comes to CPUs, the ZEN derivative could end up in the future Surface"!
3 reasons to listen to NOT idiots like ashyraffybashboy--- "The Smiling Monkey Boy!"...and his clown pinhead socks with new IDs everyday.
I would expect to see a ton of SFF custom PC's to be released right after the Nano announcement tomorrow! These type of PCs will are going to sell A LOT of R9 Nano's.
"I hope they break out the Discrete GPU division for reporting purposes..." YEP, that sure crossed my mind as well!
