  • Watch the irrational exuberance my friends. Nearly 34,000 calls and 30,000 puts @ $3.00 expiring this week. The recent move could be our manipulating friends looking for some room to short over that number. Tomorrow's vote on Scottish independence could send the markets racing in either direction. Just don't be careless. Should be an interesting day.
Good luck to all, long and short.

Is ZNGA going to promote NFL Showdown?

I've shared your view here for some time. Not sure how a social "media" company exists under the radar. The only thing I can figure is they are trying to avoid irrational exuberance that would push the price up prematurely, only to be dumped and shorted back down on any lackluster earnings or guidance. I don't think they are ready to fly just yet, but patience is wearing thin.

If people are banking on NFL Showdown to somehow push this thing to $7 bucks on its own, they will be gravely disappointed. The only thing that will turn the tide is revenue growth, profitability, and solid forward guidance. This will come with a portfolio of successful games and platforms. Until that happens, we will be slightly above cash and at the mercy of the manipulators.

I'm long.... almost too long. Good luck to all, long and short.

In civilized societies, cowardly be-headers are hunted down, tried, incarcerated, and sometimes executed by the authorities that govern their societies. Very rarely do you see any of these sub-human criminals brought to justice by their own countries or countrymen. Its always the US or a coalition of the "willing" that have to do the job. Accidentally killing civilians by blowing up a building that terrorists are using as a shield is a far cry from capturing, torturing, and then ultimately beheading an innocent person. Why doesn't the government or the populous act? Sounds like enabling, condoning, fear, and/or apathy to me.

  • We are stuck around $3.00 on options expiry. Best news in months yesterday and there has been virtually no interest in buying or selling on the news. Anemic volume and little movement. My guess is that all the retail investors that can or want to be in are in. Institutions are waiting to see. Another lap around the square; "I can't get left! Ha Ha Ha... Look kids, Big Ben, Parliament!"

As for his social commentary... hit and miss. Hard to side with you when you sympathize with cowardly be-headers and their willing enablers.

We will be going up, just not today... Good luck all, long and short.

It will be interesting to see if they do any type of advertising on tonight's game or over the weekend. Good opportunity to drive some momentum and increase awareness.

Not quite sure what to think. Is this in addition to the NFL Showdown launch or a smokescreen for a late launch? Why wait til 9pm? Strange but not surprising to me. Can't wait for tomorrow.

Thanks for the shared compliment, but given the recent board activity not sure how big it was. :)

Well, Mr. Mattrick needs to earn his crust. The $57 million in salary could be just to keep him engaged until the deed is done. However, he does have a significant interest in the share price going up to benefit his stock based compensation.

Time will tell if the ice will eventually thaw and they start sharing more. Otherwise, we may continue to sink as people just stop caring.

Final note, why don't they do much TV or print advertising? It would be a pretty cost effective way to breath life into their existing games and build excitement for future offerings. Mid day and late evening time slots are relatively cheap and would play to the primary demographic, people with time on their hands.

Good luck all. Have a great holiday. Less

Your point is well taken fox. However, if you are operating a division within a larger publicly traded company, how long you take and how little you say only has an incremental impact on the overall stock price. When what you're doing is the only thing going on, silence and time are your mortal enemies.

Companies trying to get bought do everything they can to increase shareholder value and as a result share price and purchase multiple. What's happening here is the polar opposite. Let it crash as low as possible with zero intervention. Looks to me like they could be trying to take the company private for as little dough as possible paid to the existing shareholders. (remember pincus already got paid) Not hoping for that, but not naive either.

This company has huge potential, just hope we're all still around to enjoy it.

  • Hi Team,

Well here we are again. Stuck in a rut, with options deciding the share price. Nothing new, no PR, no games releases, just stoic silence from our supreme leader and his band of merry men and women. Finding it hard to imagine there are many people who would enter this stock to hold over the weekend with the current world conditions the way they are.

The only glimmer of hope would be a NFL Showdown release today at some point. But, knowing our history, it would come after hours, lest we get people's panties in a bunch with the potential excitement.

Worse that watching, this is like listening to paint dry. Still a believer, but for crying out Pete's sake, lets get on with it already!

Hope everyone has a great holiday weekend with your friends and families.

I too come from a family with a history of substance abuse (multiple varieties) Doesn't mean you have to succumb. Religion is another one of those vices that is terrible in excess. In my opinion, worse than all of the others. More harm has been done in the name of "God" than all of the addictions put together. Its an effective means of controlling the dumb and the poor to consolidate wealth. Jihad and Crusade... Just wolves in a different color fleece. This too in moderation my friend.

Unlike earthquakes, addiction is something that we can exert some control over. Alcohol, drugs, gambling, sex, stock speculating (long or short), and self adulation are all just vices. In moderation, all are quite pleasurable. However, a little is very rarely enough. Self awareness is the key. If you "need" it, you should probably stop for a spell. Harder than it sounds, but for a person of intellect its mind over matter. What one man can do, another can do. Stay strong and go long... :)

  • Hey Michael,
Did you get your martini shaken during the earthquake on Sunday? Just interested in a first hand account. Any real damage or mass hysteria?

Good luck to you. I have 3 of my own approaching college age and I am tempted to point them in the direction of learning a trade instead of bankrupting myself or entering them a life of instant and perpetual debt. Will always be work for plumbers and electricians (same brain required)... Just saying.

Not of fan of war or violence myself. Though its hard to sympathize with a culture that condones (through inaction, ambivalence, fear, or otherwise) the deliberate torture, beheading, and murder of innocents as a matter of course, in "God's" name. We are not blameless or without fault, however I do not believe that killing innocents the US or Israel's mission or intent. Just my 2 cents... doesn't make me right.
As always, I wish you success in your endeavors.

Good show Michael, that's quite a disclosure. :) We share a degree in Manufacturing Technology and a northeast upbringing.

Why all the education? Certainly not cheap... Lit, comp, and language degrees seldom pay off although back in the 80's you could get a bachelors for about 15-20 grand all in. Nowadays, that doesn't get you a semester in a decent university (if there is such a thing).

If find you an interesting soul, however, lay off the wife beating jokes and anti-semetism. You're at your best when waxing philosophic on world events and economic drivers. I do agree that this current economy is a sham and certain to collapse at some point. But this too shall pass. "Its the circle of life Simba." Don't fret.

After yesterday's message board idiot competition, things have started to quiet down. Perhaps everyone went to the beach or are sleeping off their hangovers.

Sorry kids. Stuck at 3 today on options expiry. No news, no launches, no PR whatsoever. The most "anti" social "media" company in history. :p

I think I'm happy that I bought before earnings at $2.83 although its like getting a second helping of gruel.... I'm not hungry any more, but I'm far from satisfied. Oh well....

I kinda like the "kitchen sink quarter" analogy. Get it all on the table at once and then start focusing on the future. Worked for a few companies that tended to sacrifice long term success for short term growth trying to appease the shareholders. Always comes back to kill you in the end. They seem to have the right strategy, but I wonder how much patience is left. For now, I can wait.
