Power Hedge (?) says the current expiring rig contracts have all been contracted at higher day rates except one, he provided no commentary on new rigs or contracts expiring next year. He goes on to say jackup rigs of the latest design are in high demand and the oil companies are leasing them for longer terms for fear of not having rig availability when they need one. He does not comment on the situation for new built rigs or contracts expiring next year.

There are a lot of opinions out there, some say oil price goes down and others say up. I guess you can choose which to like. Seems we have no real consensus in one direction or the other. I'm from the peak oil thinking but I don't think we're quite there yet, maybe in a couple years. Drillers are going after the more difficult oil so if costs are a factor considered in pricing, prices should go up.
