I read somewhere that the strike is a boon to truckers. The strike is forcing suppliers to re-allocate products to the East coast. I certainly sympathize with business owners who are adversely affected by the strike, and I hope KNX is part of the solution. Comments?
Hi povertsucks, oilpricedotcom currently shows crude oil at $53.05, up $.27 from Friday's close. The debate over the future price of oil is fascinating. Some bulls think we'll soon see $60. I think it's going to go down before it goes up. There is still a supply glut, and stockpiles are at an 80 year high.
Looks like the market isn't too impressed with our $.02 earnings beat. We're getting quite a haircut this morning.
On the other hand, if production continues to outstrip demand..... oh, never mind. I'm sure you're aware of the oil glut.
Cal, thanks to me, your thumbs up took the lead on thumbs down 3-2. You're probably right about PSTI, but here's the thing: It could pop at any time. Probably when we least expect it. It could be tomorrow, next week, next year or next decade (well, I hope not that long). What I get a kick out of is that the PRs are usually released about 3 a.m. So, when I get up in the morning, I always immediately check the news stories.
mdplanet, so far, you have one thumbs up, and it came from me. But, I am disagreeing with your assessment of Sharon DiStefano. She's obviously a fun loving girl. She's the kind of girl I used to invite to my college parties.
Well, unfortunately, we didn't get any real good news regarding any of my 3 points. I hope something positive is said during the CC.
Incidentally, if we get favorable news on any or all of the 3 points I mentioned, RSG should shatter the 52 week high and climb towards $45 per share. Cross your fingers!
I agree that it is puzzling. Oil is staying almost 4% up, while SDRL is barely in positive territory. Usually, SDRL follows the price of oil very closely.
I'm hoping we'll get clarification on the following points:
1. How has the declining cost of fuel impacted RSG's bottom line?
2. Will we get more details of the Tervita acquisition?
3. Will we get more details of RSG's plans to construct the huge recycling center in Southern Nevada?
RSG has moved up today, which I hope is a good sign. GLTA!
It looks like this is a hidden gem. I was looking at getting into trucking stocks and came across CVTI. The recent earnings report was amazing, and CVTI will continue to benefit from cheap oil. So, I bought some CVTI for my wife's IRA at $27.30 per share. GLTA!
We're doing fine today. As I type this message, we're at 2.90, up 4.54%. $3 may be a stretch today, but may be next week. Say, maybe Acceleron will release another report boosting their price target above $21! LOL!
As usual, CLMT never seems to perform very well in the weeks following ex-divvy day. What's interesting this time around is that earnings are being announced later than usual. If CLMT continues to dip, it might be a good speculative buy a couple days before earnings are announced. Stay tuned.
I bought some March 35 calls yesterday. With the pps more than $4 out of the money, and with the options set to expire in less than 6 weeks, there's a substantial chance that they'll expire worthless. For some reason, I have a hunch that KNX is on the cusp of a breakout.
I bet Mr. Tong is already regretting his entry point. Right after he increased his stake, we've started getting new predictions that their is still a glut and that oil prices will continue to fall. That's not to say that SDRL won't eventually thrive, but I bet Mr. Tong now wishes he had waited a couple weeks. By the end of February, SDRL will probably be at a 25% discount from what he paid.
Bill, I'm guessing that the poster is referring to Bill Gates. Mr. Gates probably doesn't fit the definition of an "activist investor", but there's no question that he is a mover and shaker. I suspect that he has had a hand in the recent pro-environment PRs that we've been seeing from RSG. It's impossible to know how some of these recent moves will impact the bottom line. The announcement that RSG purchased Tervita, and also that they're going to build a huge recycling complex in Nevada, are both exciting. Unfortunately, the company hasn't disclosed any financial details. I'm hoping that we'll get more information when the company releases earnings after Thursday's close. And, as you've mentioned on several occasions, I hope we'll start to see the impact of cheaper oil on RSG's bottom line.
