unless you are complete moron ..It should be clear that this price jump is temporary..
I still maintain my position that Target is more likely to close below $55 before closing above $60.
Now in the event that it does close above $60 you WILL see after market and or at open below $60.
I expect tgt to close at 59.35 and adjust back to 57.57
I'll speak for myself but believe others feel the same way.
The Walmart of the 90's was acceptable..Still with the cheap product and thrift Store ambiance. BUT Walmart had among the BEST return policies..
Starting the the 2000's that changed. I recall buying a dvd player in DFW, taking it to my home in Austin and seeing that the front cover had popped off..Purchased less than 24hrs ago with receipt and a barely open package.. I asked if I could exhange it.. The service desk represenative.. said yes but that I would have to pay the difference.. WHY because we don't price match other Walmarts.. I was lucky enough to have receive my money back..
In comes Target.. I'm no longer concerned with the guarantee since as Tommy Boy puts it
"if you want me to take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed, I will. "
When the Super Target open I shifted ALL my money to that store. Prior to the breach I spent an average of $500 a month in Target.
IT WAS NOT because of the breach BUT because of the way I was treated. that to be was like a big chuckling too bad #$%$ when I presented PROOF that $129 had be spent that could in now way been from ME.. HELL they refuse to even investigate or fake investigate. Instead they threaten to take me to collections BEFORE my bill was due...
CAN'T WAIT FOR THE TEXAS CLASS ACTION SUITS i HAVE THAT CONVERSATION RECORD WITH WITNESS..
As a customer I had NEVER been treated so poorly...
Now I ONLY step foot into target to buy what is ONLY NEEDED like milk for my daughter if I happen to forget.. The closest grocery store is around 7 miles away. Target it 1 1/2 mile
From $500 I may spend around $20-$50 in the month..
In spring 2014 a new grocery store will open up around a mile further from Target.
TARGET HAD BETTER ENJOY THE $20-$50 in the month WHILE IT CAN BECAUSE IF LUCKY YOU WILL ONLY SEE THE OCCASIONAL SINGLE BILL LIKE THE UGLY 2PM TUESDAY DANCER AT A TRAILER PARK STRIP CLUB
I look forward to a good laugh when it does happen..
The problem I see in what to report is.
1. Numbers being higher than the actual sales.. since we should expect more than normal challenges to purchase. and more returns
2. Expected hire than normal charge off perhaps not fully disclosed until laters.
3. Pending investigations that could go either way.
One month or more after I made the call the new is now reporting what I already knew
just in case I get to busy when this happens.
I TOLD YA SO..
20% (40% annually) profit.. for a perfect play....that to me earns bragging rights..
Any perfect play is rare even if the profit is in the single digit...
Target will take a big hit when it reports earnings.
Stock holders do not want to hear news of poor current/past earning and poor future earning..
And that is what will be delivered. poor earning now and poor earnings going forward.
It blessed and no more suprised
68-69 billion revenue for 2013 4th quarter of around 18-19 billion.
hard to see it breaking $3 per share..
Even without the breach sales would have been reported lower than normal..
That would have put my guestimates at around 71 billion and around 21 billion for 4th qrt
Sales trends are as normal up to the time new of breach BUT for the time period of the breach Target is likely to have return money to the customers for suspicious activity.
This I would guesstimates drops the numbers to what I have projected and I think I am being extremely generous

my senior and I have recommended that we forgo our personal annual incentive payments for 2013.”
2012 Ginni earned 16.2 million in total compensation.
Base Salary 1.5 million
Stock Awards 9.2 million
Incentive pay 4 million.
So we should see Ginni's total compensation drop to an absolute max of 12 million
given stock awards are not part of incentive pay
Bottom Line even if they manipulate numbers earning will be low..
BUT FOR IBM THE WORSE IS NEAR OVER... IT WILL BE TRENDING BACK TO AT LEAST THE HIGH $190-$200 BEFORE FIRST QUARTER.
IT IS VERY UNLIKELY TO GO BELOW $180 I WOULD NOT LOOK TO SHORT STOCK AT THIS TIME.
BUT RATHER GO LONG FOR AT LEAST THE NEXT 2-3 QUARTER.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
To all who have received there bill for this month.. Look over closely and call target to get your online balance.
i got two other friends to confirm but.. The online system does not match the amount sent in bill
in dec i had an issue where the amount own was 89 but 669 was charged to account
pay what you owe but i highly advice to remove autopay asap
at least call and listen to automatic system and get back with so others can be warned
Target is a very large company employing around 361,000.
One would think that a company of that size would have some of the best security.
Here is the reality the cost to run a large IT shop and keep it compliant is extremely expensive and a challenge to manage.
Target's failure is likely the result of it attempting to save costs.
It's pos software may have been home grown or deployed on an old platform. That would have cost way to much to upgrade.
Working as a senior or Lead middle ware expert.
My first task in assessing clients system is security.. I present the risks and various remediation options and plan to maintain compliance.
I work my magic as much as I can
there have been time where I knew an application was at a complete security risk and asked to sign it off as non applicable or non issue.
With all kinds of excuses and in two occasions a direct order. On resulting in a transfer the other in final reprimand
I give my reason and do my best to example why..
So far I have never been a yes man..
Most however will and if not someone else will.
I have little doubt that target had a security procedure but that it just became a standard for some to just sign yes..or push it down the line.
Much to my surpise very few companies put into practice good security measures
and the I told ya so's just keep coming... Looks like my bellow $60 may come quicker than expected.
I have said over and over and warn with proof that the breach was far more then originally reported.
Even if you love target and love the TARGET RED can and will not be convenience to close account. At least request a new card with account number.
Most Banks have reacted but be proactive if not and request a new card.
