Ho hum, more layoffs at Arrow. This time the victims were the participants in the PEMCO initiative. When will Arrow learn? TTI and the other PEMCO specialists just let Arrow have the business they do not want anymore or what Arrow bought their way into by trashing price. TTI would say- call us back when Arrow screws it up to a fare thee well. By the way did the VP of whatever you call him/her that pushed this initiative get canned? I doubt it.
North America semiconductor sales are flat as a pancake. The only distributor that is growing is Digikey. Arrow decided to "break reels" about 15 years too late.
Anyway, product is centralized. Is inside sales next?Trying to slash costs in the face of flat revenues and declining margins is like trying to catch a falling knife. It is too bad that Arrow takes it out on the "worker bees" while they have expensive empty suits walking around with titles such as VP GlobalEngineering and VP Global Supplier Marketing. What do these guys do other than show up at Arrowfest( otherwise known as a resume swap/food-boozathon) and reciting 5 years out????
Having said all that Arrow has done a good job diversifying and increasing sales by selling systems. Get used to higher sales/lower margins.
