" In 10 years when I cash out GLW, I will ride off into the sunset as the PPS will be well into the hundreds. "
The funny part is....corning2retire has been posting that message for about 10 years already.
Wait, I thought you said we would NEVER see this stock below $16.45 EVER AGAIN about 3 years ago....so which is it?
Same can be said for you hobo. You have rarely provided any fact-based analysis of GLW, rather you pump the stock endlessly as it sits idle while the rest of the market goes up and up....
YOU are mentally challenged if you truly believe that the morons posting on this board are part of a GRAND SCHEME to artificially drive the price of this company's stock lower!!! WOW you need mental help.
A couple of things to consider:
1. Any "gains" by any apple tv will not be incremental, but rather just a redistribution of the current flat panel tv market. Thus, this will not really improve the bottom line of Corning. The best Corning can say lately is that their margins in this market are "decreasing less"...ouch.
2. Apple tv has been delayed....again....latest estimates are late 2015 or 2016. There is no real differentiation Apple can offer in the flat panel TV market at present so they are delaying rather than launching into an already stagnant marketplace.
Where did I say GTAT is an equal to GLW nimrod? That's right, I didn't.
Try reading my post next time rather than spouting your rationale for continuing to pump a stock whose performance continues to lag the market substantially.
"Your kind of pessimism is always true...until the day it's not"....
Uhhhmmmm.....what??? That statement is just ludicrous. Everyone appears to be worried about how GLW as a company compares to GTAT as a company...that is not the thing to be looking at. What should be learned is that the market still views GLW as a single product company which is vulnerable to any new technology that can decrease it's current sales and/or decrease it's margins.
Any doubts about that? Just look at the price history of the stock.
You miss the point of the whole thing. The fact that new like this can move GLW down 3% means the market still views GLW as a one trick pony...vulnerable to competition and changes in that segment. That is why this stock has been stuck in the weeds forever.
